Of all the guys in the house to evaluate Briggs....hmmm, how about the OLB Coach they retained? I know he was a former Asst DL coach, but this is the guy who should be left to decide whether or not Briggs stays. Combine that with Briggs dedicating to be in shape, but you could not ask for a better evaluation of the guy, than a guy who was in the locker room. Yeah, if Lance was a dick to the Asst Dl coach, it will come back to bite him

I gotta figure that if he stays there will be trouble. If he goes, there will be double. They really should just come on and let him know, should he stay or should he go. Just my opinion.

It really is just a guess by almost everyone, except the guy who should know. the only D coach being retained.

I say he gets a 1 year non guaranteed deal to show up. $3.5 Mill. Which was his deal last year and if he is in shape, he should make the team. This offer should be up to the guy who SHOULD KNOW a little something?

He gets the James Harrison treatment. Nothing more than $1M if no one else picks him up by start of camp.

Are you sure that is what happened to James Harrison?

No. He was told he wouldn't be resigned and he ended up in Cincy last year. Then this year he tried to catch in Arizona but no. He was on the sofa and Steelers needed him so brought him back at minimum.

My point is Briggs gets nothing more than a glance and if he can't find anything maybe we use him cheap. Would you like me to explain anything else in detail?

Harrison didn't get a glance. He got a call when the Steelers were desperate when the injury bug hit.

Briggs did nothing the last two years to even warrant a glance from the Bears. Oh, and they will be running a 3-4 going forward.

And yes my point is the Bears should do nothing more with him than pick him up off scrap heap if needed. In a 3-4 he can find someone to tackle in a pinch.

Harrison played in the same system for years.

I'm not understanding why the Bears would pick up a 12 year vet to play a position he is totally unfamiliar with and never played.

Especially after he stole checks for the last two years.

In Terry Boers' point of fact I give a shit if he is back or not. I was just saying if they did it should be scrap heap discount. Thanks for belaboring it.

Thanks for explaining.

It was unclear what your point was about Briggs, especially when you used Harrison as some frame of reference.

Next time just say it was all Terry's idea and it will make sense from the start.

Bringing Briggs back at any price would be a bad idea. He is a selfish individual & a cancer. Good riddance.

Mannelly made it clear today that he is not a cancer.

He isn't a leader.

He isn't a 3-4 linebacker.

I'll be shocked if they re-sign him.

So did Mannelly come right out and say that he played off of Urlacher's coattails or did he just repeatedly hint at it? Sheesh.

Everyone thought Briggs packed it in the last 2 years and was an issue in the locker room.

Mannelly did correct that. 2 years ago when he was injured he did attend all the LB meetings and tried to help teach in those meetings. Obviousely a problem existed and last year, he was along for the check.

first thing he needs to do show that he is in shape. I know he never took that very seriousely, but if he does get in excellent shape this offseason it does show things are different and shows committment.

The guy was a really good player for a long time, I dont doubt skill still exists but need to see more at this point and only stating a little more than minimum at this point.

That's just the snapper not wanting to break bad on a long time team mate. I would think that this would be a situation where Ted steps in & tells Pace & Fox no way are they bringing him back.

Would help if he didn't zone out during team meetings. How fucking stupid do you have to be to let everyone know you did?

Go join Lovie in Tampa or Hot Rod in Dallas, fatso

Look how the guy treated a contract year. I have zero confidence he would do what it would take to come back and play well. Lance is on my shit list for a while until he goes away long enough to forget the last couple of years.

Then Hub talks about insulting Urlacher in one breath. In the next he says the Bears gave him the largest (and only) contract to play football.

Don't bother "insulting" Lance and giving him any moral high ground in this. Thank him for his services now before there is any momentum behind re signing him

Ownership agrees with you, but I want to make clear, THIS. IS. SOLELY. RYAN. PACE'S. DECISION.

Is that what Dan said was the result of his weekly meeting with Bears ownership?

So 6, 15, 55, 33 all not wanted back by ownership, but its Paces call.

He did. That makes him a bad player, and truth be told it seems as if he was just taking after his coach. That does not necessarily make him a bad guy or a bad teammate. None of us here really know for sure what kind of a guy he is like off the field or in the locker room.
