I think Terry looks at drinky kind of like his 5th son. That's why he's overly kind to him by laughing at his bad jokes and gibberish talk.

I think Terry is one of those guys who doesn't know how to use his network to the benefit of others. If you ask him to make a call I think he would but I don't think he knows how to actively campaign as he has never done it.

That's because terry has burned more bridges than your n count. he also lives far way, in a little enclave, and tries to keep up the image that he doesn't care about being a big shot, etc ( he and bernstein are two peas in a pod).

terry hates all the national writers - especially those who have written books - guys like Lupica, feinstein, Ryan, the guy from detroit ( Mitch something) - all the guys who have moved beyond sports talk ( not forgetting it - but expanded their writing). Terry doesn't have that skill, looks now at where he is and thinks how did they get past me, so he attacks ( again, eerily familiar to Bernstein).
