Blackhawks and Kings in January. FEEL. THE. EFFORT!

The big story coming into this one is that the Kings waived Mike Richards, who has plummeted from captain of the Flyers to fourth-line center for the Kings to clearing waivers and getting sent down to Manchester. It's been a long road down for Richie, a road paved with the wear and tear of being a mean-spirited human pinball who also loves booze and cocaine. Somehow, booze/cocaine managed not to similarly consume Jeff Carter whole, but I don't think he ever made as much contact as Richards did, or at least he limited his contact to hawt Jersey Shore gash.

The Kings have been missing a bunch of guys, not the least of whom being Slava Voynov, who is out for the forever for beating the shit out of women. Anze Kopitar is having a down year and is probably fighting injuries, but whatever, if spanky wants to give me shit for saying Kopitar is equal or better than Toews, he may do so now.

At the moment, the Kings are three points behind Calgary for a playoff spot, and fifth in the division behind Anaheim, San Jose, Vancouver, and Calgary. Everyone is predicting the imminent entrail-splattering demises of every playoff team not named the Ducks, but at least two others have to make the playoffs, and I don't see Dallas or Colorado muscling in for the last wild card barring trade-deadline blockbusters. I think the Canucks make it in somehow, and you know what? I think the Flames do, too, the totally-unsustainable-we-can't-wait-to-point-and-laugh Flames. They'll bust ass to the finish line, get swept by Anaheim or whoever wins our division, but they'll get in. The Kings are just sandbagging it until March, no worries there. I say it's the Sharks who are going to find a way to fuck up, only this time a little ahead of schedule.

I will try to watch this game, but I have to be up early in the morning, so I might miss this one. It doesn't bother me too much, though, because I know half our roster will miss it too!

Why wait for spanky? He isn't. You're wrong. Convienently you find an excuse for Kopitar being mediocre this year in that he's "probably hurt" but Toews goes 10 games without a goal and thats "unacceptable". Toews is plus fucking 16 going up against the other teams top line, Kopitar is minus 6. Yep, just as good.

It was eleven games that Toews went without a goal.

Yet he still has more than the great Anze Kopitar.

He's going to need a lot more goals than a lot of people next year when he has the cap hit of two top-six players combined.

Dude I've never talked to anybody else that ever thought Kopitar was better than Toews.
I think that's safe for a while.

I'm not hopeful they can get any pucks past the great John Quick.

Crawford has already bailed his team out at least three times so far. I would expect him to give up at least a couple if the defense is going to continue to play like the shit they have shown so far. With that, I bid you all a good morrow.

That was bullshit. I can't imagine why they didn't whistle that dead. Easily the goofiest thing I've seen a ref do.

Three blown leads, yeah, that's pretty much what a game with the Kings looks like. Didn't miss much. Looks like another third-place finish for our lionhearts.

They've won two Stanley Cups. So regardless of any performance issues or salary payments, we have no right to question the coach or players on the ice who were a part of those teams. You should know this by know. They should have paid Toews and Kane $20M/year each and Crow deserves a bump to $15M/year. Please reserve your criticism for Thibs and Jed/Theo.
