I still would have ran it but I agree with you, a half second earlier and that's 6 points.

Wrong. The guy got jacked even with the int. that play call would have resulted in them having to use their last timeout and passing again inside the 5

golden child russell is escaping culpability for the poor throw. his two throws previously were poor decisions for which one was bailed out by a extremely fortunate bounce.

My conspiracy post of the day:

Weren't there rumblings out of Seattle that the team was not happy with Lynch and were considering getting rid of him this offseason?

If that's true, my theory is that Carrol didn't give him the ball on 2nd and 1 from the goal cause he didn't want Lynch to get a 2nd TD and then the MVP award that might've gone with it. So he figured he would try the pass play on 2nd and 1 and if that failed he could always punch it in on 3rd with Lynch if he absolutely had to.

Not a stretch.

An anonymous player voiced the same thing.

I believe Carroll's explanation.

Seahawks offer Marshawn Lynch huge contract extension

By Ian Rapoport NFL.com
NFL Media Insider

The Seattle Seahawks not only want Marshawn Lynch around next year, but they've made a significant commitment to keep him on their team, possibly, for the rest of his career.

On the heels of another dominant season for the running back nicknamed "Beast Mode," multiple sources tell me Seattle has made Lynch an offer on a huge contract extension that would keep him in a Seahawks uniform for years to come.

The deal is believed to include more than $10 million for Lynch in the 2015 season alone. Lynch currently is slated to make $5 million in 2015, the final year of what originally was a four-year, $31 million deal.

The Seahawks believe that Lynch, who has rushed for at least 1,200 yards in each of the past four seasons, has outplayed his contract, sources say. They want to reward him for his work.

The new deal for Lynch has been a topic of discussion between Lynch's agent Doug Hendrickson and the Seahawks for the last several weeks. He's the heart-and-soul of their team, which they recognize, and they want him to retire a 'Hawk.

As for his compensation, Lynch could end up being the highest-paid running back not named Adrian Peterson using average-per-year as a measure.

This is a stunning turnaround from where the Seahawks were with Lynch earlier in the season. For a variety of issues -- including Lynch's somewhat chilly relationship with coaches, his age and his hefty salary -- the expectation was that Seattle wouldn't bring Lynch back for another season. But the way Lynch has played and led this team to another Super Bowl forced the Seahawks to reverse course.

All this after he held out of training camp last year and then saw the team move some money around to offer him a band aid-style contract solution. His 2014 salary went from $5 million to $6.5 million.

In the last few weeks, the Seahawks made an offer for much more. That said, Lynch is an enigma. Sources close to him have said for months that if the Seahawks win the Super Bowl he could retire. Perhaps tonight there will be some answers.

I must have have just saw the 10 million for 15 and that was it. I stand corrected.

Agreed, especially when you look at the still photos and see how much ground he made up in less than a second

Agreed. You have to credit Belichick too. They practiced for that play and Butler was beat in practice on the same play. When they saw the formation he knew what was coming and jumped the route. Great coaches have their teams prepared.

You can have them prepared and they still make stupid plays, aka Brandon Bostick.

Yes.

A pass was the right call for the defense that the Pats were in.

I find it intersting that they ended up being beat in the end by Brandon Browner. If he doesn't jam up Kearse, them Lockette gets to that ball before Butler.

Call me crazy but I don't think McCarthy is a good coach. He's making a living off the best QB in the NFL.

If he gets there one second later its a TD. I agree it was a dumb call but Id say that play is a TD 10x more than its a pick.

They should have passed.

A fade is a really tough route to intercept. They could have matched up to run on the third and fourth down if it was incomplete.

But he wasn't supposed to catch the ball, his job was to block the guy that did recover it. He did not do what he had been coached.
