Id be curious as to what you actually disagree with but I take it you just dont want to get into it, so, that's cool

I just don't think he is necessarily a bad parent.

I can easily see how it came off that way. I dont think he's a bad parent. In fact from what TBone says sounds like he rounded into a good one.

I dont think the decisons to go back were the right ones but that doesnt mean he's a bad parent overall. I just have a hard time celebrating a guy like that (and decisons like that) without feeling horrible for his family

The guy's bravery and balls cannot be questioned

They can't be. No question. Chris Kyle would easily be able to disarm and kill anyone who posts here. The slippery slope on that though is do we want to promote that? The higher ups love it and we still need it. My old man is 90 and ran up through Normandy until the end of the war. I don't want that for my son. Call me a hippie of sorts I guess but this kill or be killed mentality needs to be ended. It is kinda why the 50's are romanticized. We need to evolve but the Al Queda or the ISIS stuff make it really tough.

Wait-a-cottonpickin minute here.

If your dad is 90, that would mean that you are like, in your 60s then, right?

39. Baby of the family. Sister is 62 brother almost most 60 other sister is 48. Parents separated for 9 years didn't think they could have me and well they could. Mom was 45 and the old man was 51. I was reminded I was an accident daily. Lucky for my mom she died when I was 11 and I didn't have to disappoint here.

Just got back from seeing it. I thought it was very good, but not great (although I thought Sienna Miller was fantastic). I think the Kyle character was portrayed like how many felt about the Iraq war, i.e. those bastards (Muslims) attacked us on 9/11 and we've got to do something about it. Even as the movie progressed and I think he realized there wasn't really much of an objective with what they were doing, he fell back onto that idea. We've got to do something to them to make ourselves feel better, to make ourselves fell patriotic, to make us feel like we are getting even. Never was that more apparent than when they went back into the field after Biggles was shot. Kyle even said they went back out just based on emotion (and if you'll remember to get some revenge) and instead of getting revenge, Marc gets killed. Every time they went into the field there didn't seem to be any clear objective, much like the war itself. I thought that really came through. Dare I say it was an anti-war movie from Eastwood? Okay, maybe that's going to far, but I did get a sense of that. I also got a sense that he was trying to say it's OK if you disagree with why we went there, and yes, it may have been wrong, but you can honor those who served at the same time.

I just watched it. There is far, far too much BS attached to this film like the misleading movie trailers and the political fallout. I'm going to ignore all that, because it should be ignored, and just focus on the movie.

It's very well done, and Eastwood is still a top notch director, even into his 80's. Chris Kyle is portrayed in a fairly balanced light, well played by Bradley Cooper. The action sequences are intense, and we do get an insight into how fragile life expectancy is in places like Iraq.

I thought Miller's character could've been a little more fleshed out. Sometimes it seems like she's constantly holding her mouth, crying, repeating "come home, chris" over and over again. It sort of makes her into a nagger more than a strong character, who legitimately wanted the guy home to be a father and husband.

Kyle eventually does come home for good after 4 tours, but he is permanently branded with a bit of a killer instinct. However, as a youth, he was taught how to hunt. He exceeds at that, and since the focus of the movie is primarily on him being a hunter, it works.

I would've liked to see something based on more than just his memoir, though. It could've had a bigger scope to get an idea of what his wife was going through at home. It also would've been nice to see some of the Iraqis as more than just moving targets. But it's hard for a war movie to humanize many people.

I think it's irresponsible to label this as war propaganda, just as i think it's wrong to simply deify Kyle. I definitely think Kyle was a flawed person...and I probably would've kept my distance. He certainly did his job well, but it's not like he won the war by himself.

One little complaint I have, and I have this bone to pick with a lot of filmmakers...the last shot of the guy who winds up killing Kyle is totally unnecessary. Oooh, he's spooky and creepy, he looks like a killer. What's the point of that? Especially since his wife keeps on looking at him funny. It just seemed like Eastwood was forcing us to figure out what was already pretty obvious. Huh, think the guy's a little...CRAZY? It was just kinda cheap.

Other than that, a good, solid movie.

:D :D :D out of :D :D :D :D
