Both teams need points here in a bad way, especially the Hawks, who at this point are just hoping to finish third: the Blues have taken 19 points of their last 20, the say-die-whenever Hawks have taken 8.

First trip to Winnipeg, which is about as pleasant for visiting teams as giving a vegan a prostate exam.

Denis Savard is kinda cute. He was really cute. I've only seen youtube stuff of him but when I think of favorite Blackhawks his name comes to mind. Not that I know a ton of them but I like him.

Buff was no slouch in the playoffs here himself.

The Jets basically erased Toews and Hossa from the proceedings. I don't know what it's going to take to re-engage them. I hope the eight-game homestand helps. Then again, the book's been out on Toews since the 2013 series with the Red Wings: hassle him enough and he'll go away. The despised Fatty Nacho McCrap had to cheer him back up.

How can you score when you're only playing 40-second shifts and spending most of your 40 seconds chasing down pucks or cycling along the boards? They should call it the National Don't Fuck Up League and just award points on players' ability not to fuck up. If you complete a shift without getting scored on or taking a penalty, you get a point. If you drop back to a guy who drops back to another guy, you each get a point (secondaries are just as good as primaries here). Hold a one-goal lead through the third by blocking shots? Everyone gets points! If you get scored on, though, you lose all your points for the season. If it happens again while you have no points, you are sent to the AHL. Forever. Gotta play good mistake-free hockey out there, boys.

In all seriousness, by the time scoring drops even more and his money train pulls in, a 50-point season for Toews will be a miracle.
