Yeah Dan, there's no way a college basketball coach would come up with a bogus major to keep his players eligible. It's such an honest profession.

The room is smaller than last year - less seats to begin with, but tickets are going fast, make sure you sign up, there's only a few left...and the radio show will turn into an infomercial over the next few weeks.

It does seem like a great cause, but having your mouth piece go out of his way to be a jerk doesn't make a lot of sense.

well, in the base sense, Terry says today that he's disregarding Dean Smith's wins to talk about his other work. Tim Beckman comes on, and is admittedly a poor coach and a dunce, but they distill coaching down to "just win baby" when he's the subject. You can't have it both ways. Unfortunately I'm not smart enough to take it any further.

But does Tim Beckman have other work? I mean, Dean Smith is obviously as much a major figure on the civil-rights side of sports as he is the performance side. What else can you judge Beckman on but what he does in his capacity as coach?

Big-league swing and a miss on this hypothetical from one of the members of the Email Club. "Could Dean Smith be hired today? I say no, because social media would be too critical of someone who fought segregation." But that supposes that social media wouldn't have been critical of de jure segregation in the first place. Look, we know the South sucks, but sometimes you gotta let the South suck itself.
