It's a good thing nobody watches this show. Grote is gonna be safe. He'll survive this.

My wife just said "Yes he's definitely drunk because that's how we talk about sports when we are drunk"

I guess he's drunk

Even Kaplan is starring at Grote as he speaks. You can tell he's thinking, "You're drunk, arent' you?"

How they let him keep going after the first commercial break is horrible. Kap could have just said, "Mark had a family matter emergency to attend to."

I just watched this and something aint right. I love Grote because he is fun but he isn't an ass. Hopefully just lack of sleep, but agreed with others in the thread, the producers should have stepped in and told him to take a night off.

I texted into Grobber's show about Grote and he said "Mark is a great guy, and he puts in long hours."

yikes, M&H insinuated that he would be on the road with the team as a part of his cubs duties... that lifestyle seems like an awfully tall task for an addict to deal with

I know he did go in for help and I know then he needs to be called an addict, but not in the camp that everyone who ever goes for help is an addict.

Try his schedule for even a week and see how you feel? Its terrible. I am not sure how Les does what he does,

i dont get your point, so everyone who works a 3rd shift or very early morning shift has to consume a lot of alcohol to deal with it?

He's got to address it. No other option.

Cuz you can't have been the only one to hit him up on twitter. I'm sure Kaplan had a bunch of tweets about it. I'll bet Mully and Hanley got a bunch of texts about it that they ignored.

All he has do is tweet... "There have been some questions about my CSN appearance. I was exhausted. Hadn't slept in 2 days." Boom. It's over. Can't prove otherwise even if it's a lie.

Because it's not like he's facing punishment. He doesn't work for CSN.

A lot of people get sent to rehab for the wrong reasons. A young person nabbed on a low DUI charge or a kid sent by parents for example. This gets done because it is relatively cheap via insurance and the state gets to say the did something with you. The problem with this is likely neither of these examples are likely true addicts, at least yet. But as almost all treatment is based on AA, again free, you are labeled one and scared into never having a beer ever again etc.

The AA (religious) approach being the "right way" or the "only way" has been repeated so often it's become accepted fact.

It is the free part that is so attractive.

 Having been to a lot of meetings over the years I had never heard why it was actually so attractive.

I meant attractive to the government and free material for rehab joints.

It's a good thing for Grote he got the Cubs gig before this happened. Can you imagine if Ron Gleason was watching CSN yesterday.

Ron Gleason:

Why would CSN let Grote go on the air looking like hell?

He was plowed.

Bad move on his part and the show for letting him on.

It was awkward and dirty.

Grote made a tweet about 2 hours ago. Just a comment about Whole Foods. The kind of tweet that means your not worried about anything.

Mark Grote @markgrotesports · 2h 2 hours ago
Love you Whole Foods. Because you always look like you want to be there.

I mean don't you think people at his station were made aware of it? Don't you think some saw it? Is this gonna be one of those things that just doesn't get discussed and just goes away?

Grote isn't even gonna just say he was tired and hadn't slept? Something?

It's just weird. Usually things like this get reported by somebody.

You have to go to immoral drugs for that type of thought.

Maybe this is one of those things where Grote just doesn't know how he was like on the show. He thought he was fine and pulled it off. It's clear nobody at CSN said anything to him. Or else he wouldn't have been on the entire hour. Probably nobody at THE SCORE said anything to him. Cuz that would be awkward and nobody likes to discuss that sort of thing. So he probably just came into work at the SCORE whistling, his happy affable self, kind of wondering why he was getting strange looks, but didn't think much of it.

Maybe if he watched it.

Grote: Let's see what those CSFMB posters are talking about. Those dumb asses. (Hits play on his DVR..... )

Dude was slurring his words, glassy eyed...people were looking at him in shock.

That's fine if he was sleep deprived. Plausible. Problem for Grote is that nobody is aware of that. With his public disclosure of going to rehab for booze, he's gotta say something. If you watched it you think "He's drunk". How could you not?

So he should just post something saying "Hey everybody, I was tired. No sleepy for me in days." Not for people watching. For his bosses that are thinking "Uh oh".

The glassy eyes and the slouched look could mean sleep deprived. The slurring of words hurts. Though that could be a factor in lack of sleep. I guess.

I don't know. I've been up 48 hours straight. I remember checking myself in the mirror. I looked like Grote. Only I didn't talk to anybody. So I don't know if I would have slurred my words.

Note to Grote: If you are sleep deprived and look like shit, don't agree to go on "Sports Talk Live". It's not like you get money for it. Nor does it help your exposure. Nobody watches unless people get word that somebody might be drunk on the set.
