Mac effectively disengages from the sports talk world. There really is no contestant for top spot in this city with none on the horizon. Bernstein has high paid and continuous employment guaranteed for another decade.

Beardown HAD to have PM'ed you and told you to create this thread. I will not accept "no" as an answer.

He didn't have to pm me. He just had to walk over from to the office.

It's a BD type thread, but he's not wrong.

Everyone thought it was a power play to get back to afternoon drive.

I'm getting tired of Bernstein winning all the time. They're not even big wins.

I don't know but let's set something. Lent kind of sucks on Fridays but I'd still be game.

You are right, he does win. We are the ones that lose. If I were one of the others at the Score I'd start pushing Dan's buttons.

He doesn't win. Mac does.

He hits 50 and takes on a totally new career challenge. And he's doing it with house money. If it doesn't work out in a year, then he will be someone that took a risk with little to lose. And if Terry's retirement plans come to fruition, then Mac will be ready to move back to sports radio if he so desires.

In the mean time. Bernsy still suffers from a loss of a solid lead in audience that Mac once provided. And if Terry does retire, then he will have to totally re-invent what he has become comfortable doing for the last ten years or so. That's going to be a problem for him.

So, Mac becomes the guy that took a chance and realized a dream. Most men will identify with that. And he will still have the ability to go back to sports radio when if the dream fails. Remember, they called him first when Mannelly quit.

Going to be much tougher to get his numbers especially with Bears season gone.

M&H are aces with the Bears/NFL. With football over the car radio will be on 97.1 or podcasts. No reason to really spin back to 670 when I hop back in to drive home.

Yesterday after work I hopped in with 101.1 on. Spun over to 670 during commercial break and Dan was lecturing about Jackie Robinson West. *click* that's enough of that.

Then you add White Sox baseball pre-empting them or giving them short shows (No subdivision, I don't mind WS ball, but I do mind hearing Rongey, Farmer and DJ). Going to interesting to see this unfold.

Sox don't pre empt that much. This is going to be a banner year for sports radio in the late spring/early summer with Blackhawks, Bulls and baseball, in my opinion.

This.

Good for Mac. This city's talk radio needs a shakeup and I hope the McMorning show provides it. I wish Mac and Pete the best.

Wrong.

Mac took a job that a computer does on most music stations nowadays.

If a computer can do this job, and yet some radio station is paying Mac decent 6-figures, isn't that a win for Mac?

I won't start a new thread. But Bernstein wins again. The Chicago black kids got their trophy taken away. The Vegas white boys get it.

Bernstein:

Beardown: Bitch.

When you hit 50, you take a chance and move into criminal defense work at 26th and Cal.

You'll be moving away from your comfort zone but you will be doing virtually the same thing in a different format.

It's more analogous to switching offices than switching the kind of work

No, because going from AM to FM alone is far more than just switching offices. Add in it's a different format on a station known for music and the change may be more dramatic then you going to 26th and Cal.
