Don't you mean "the other"?

I forgot, you are a radio legend. Sorry, my mistake. I guess that 1.3 is pretty meaningful in the overall scheme of things.

These people would be the same ones who think Harry is funny. Need I say more?

I dont mind the singing at all. The "Derek Lee" from "Let it Be" was particularly good I think.

I actually am amused by harry's drinking stories.

Like Mac and HHJ said, I dont recall him really bringing up his football days

Harry does know what hes talking about when it comes to the NBA.

I liked "Hey Lou Piniella....", and Pappy's "Wannie's World" is a classic.

The "Jose Contreras is Older Than Dirt" sung to the tune of "Daniel" by Elton John is one of my favorites.
And when Mac breaks into the "Pau Gasol" song is always a treat.

Actually... I thought the topic was hideous also, but it was debated in our production meeting so we discussed it briefly. I think we spent three or four minutes on it.

Too much singing? Guilty. There should be far less joy in sportsradio because the topics are soooo serious.

Too much high school football "glory days discussion?" When do I ever bring it up? A couple of you guys have brought it up here over the past year... but I can't recall doing it myself.

1. This is the problem. Don't let Harry run things. He should stfu in the meetings and just be happy as hell to be there. Letting him go on for 4 minutes about Jurko's reading glasses is stamped for the radio hall of fame too.

2. Maybe you should "bring joy" to sports talk again. My last neighborhood tavern doesn't do karaoke. Didn't know Traditions did either.

3. HS football is dead to me. Was fun to hear you throw your buddies under the bus regarding the slow english class, though.

Mac's finest parody moment for me is still "Chet" to Wings "Jet". It was filled with hate, feelings of triumph and humor.

And Chet
I thought the Big Rock, Candy Mountain
Could not be moved

And Chet
I thought the Bears were
All your babies
Now its the Jets

I'm starting to agree with all the blogs out there that have been trashing Simmons for the last year plus. He's mailing it in and getting too smug. For me that Pats F-U column last week was the straw that broke the camel's back. I've used a BS quote in my email sig line for years and I yanked it off as a result.

Plus he's the one person worse than Mac at picking games, even his wife is doing better.

I dont know how he's mailing it in. I dont know what blogs say that, but I disagree. He wrote a book just a couple years ago, is writing another one, still does the two columns a week and the podcasts twice a week(Which I know can sometimes be unbearable to listen to, but others are so bad). He does come off as pretty smug about the Pats, but I can see how that would happen with a team like that. It might end up being the best team in NFL history, so I can see why he says what he says about them, although obviously the F-U thing the Pats are doing is lame sportsmanship at the very least. He's still probably the most entertaining sports writer in the country in my opinion, at least out of the ones that are published on major websites or in major papers/magazines.

They meant mailing it in as quality in what he's doing Favre. I agree. I think the quality is not nearly as good as it was two years ago. I don't even bother.

Yeah I knew what he meant by mailing it in, I just disagree. I dont think his quality has suffered, and he is doing alot more that he was 2 years ago. I think its normal to think of a sports writer such as him as having declining quality in work after 7 years on ESPN.com, only because we have heard alot of his same jokes and analogies very often, and its hard to continue to come up with such clever jokes all the time, but I still think even his most recent columns still have alot of quality, and I think once the Red Sox season ends, and he spends more time on the NBA, I think he will once again be at his best. I dont know if theres anyone better at writing about the NBA. As long as you take his bias for what it is and recognize it, he's still a very good read, and I cant blame him for having bias, if I had a national column I would probably write alot about the Bulls and Packers, because those are the teams I know the best and could write the best about.

Well, I'll still scan his column, but I don't print them out to take into the can with me anymore to read and reread.

The 90210 references just aren't as funny anymore. Even the Vegas stories have been clunkers, and it was his early trip reports that made me a fan. I could relate to him back in the day when 4 guys shared a room downtown, each keeping a leg on the floor, but now he's in his own suite at the Wynn hobnobbing with Isiah Thomas, it's just not as relatable. The sig I mentioned: "There isn't a better internet moment then receiving that first e-mail with 'Vegas?' in the subject heading. It's right up there with "Calvin Murphy had 14 kids?!?!?!?!?!?!?!" and "Paris Hilton MPEG -- not safe for work!" Puts a hop in your step for the rest of the day." I also find it funny that he is the only writer on ESPN without a comment section. Just remember the day ESPN stood still.... http://deadspin.com/sports/espn/the-day ... 233337.php

I do wish he'd pick up his top 73 sports movies list.

But that would not include me, Mac. I used to be a faithful listener, but have listened down the dial a lot more over the last year as a direct result of this constant need for you guys to bust into song over people's names. Go ahead and call it "joy" if you want, I'll respectfully continue to call it an instant punch of the dial.

Parody songs are fine... in fact, many are funny. Just stop the constant impromptu busting into song over names.
