He should teach that class at DePaul.

Larry's message: "Yeah, feel bad for the kids. But also shed a tear for me. I'm a victim in this too. Because I played in the same league. Did I mention that I donated money? When we come back, I'm gonna teach Jesse and the parents how to properly use the race card."

WTF?

Some lady just called Holmes "Larry".

I figured it was Spaulding. But then she said she played little league in the 70s. Spaulding is to young to have played then.

Who was it?

I thought he was fine as she was nervous and not a regular listener. I was more wondering why an old lady is an avid LL fan.

Where did Larry live when he played in that league?

He said he lived in Roseland but then he also said he lived around 121st and Halsted, which I think would be Pullman. Was Leery a ringer?

This is one of those things that saying the right things about this is actually easy. I mean it's common sense. But Larry likes to do it in a slow, dramatic way.

Larry: Look, here's what I think. The parents shouldn't have cheated. Cheating is wrong. I was thinking about how to phrase this. Came up with this: Cheaters never win and winners never cheat.

Thanks, Larry. That's brilliant.

The Expos requested the move.

I believe his parents moved to Flossmoor so that he could go to a good high school.

Laurence insinuated that he only knew were his teamate Mario lived because he was the catcher and Mario was the best pitcher

Like it was part of his duty as field general to know where the ace of the staff lived

This is a five star show for Laurence

Just listened to Laurence replay the part of the presser with the mom that b&B played earlier. I didn't listen closely enough earlier but wow. That was weird and Holmes made the same point. I realize that being poor and black makes some think sports is the only way out which I hate but she was just all over. Instead of a parade give her 100k like Korea for her kid? Where is her scholarship or fund for her kid's education?

Larry made some good points about it. Listen if you want. It changed my perspective on this though. If that is mom's thought process then fuck yes she did anything she fucking could to cheat and get that kid on national tv and a WS win. I can understand desperation or feeling different ways but things are fucked up.

Bernstein was basically saying "You gotta listen to Larry tonight cuz he's black and this is a black thing so he's gonna have great black thoughts on this."

After spending five hours saying this isn't about race.

First time I listened to Larry for an extended period of time. Wanted to see how he would make the Jackie Robinson thing about himself. He didn't disapoint.

He ended the show saying something like "If the parents and coaches aren't gonna properly take care of these kids, then I'll try to take care of them."

First of all, how insulting. Secondly, you're not gonna take care of them. That's just something you say to make yourself shine. What exactly are you gonna do to take care of them, Larry? You said it. So why don't you answer how you're gonna do it. That's right. No answer. Cuz there was absolutely no intention to do anything. Just idol words that make you look like a champion of the kids.

I enjoy making fun of Laurence as much as anybody, but I thought he did a solid radio show tonight.
