Should be interesting and I'll be tuning in for sure. I'm not a fan of McNeil -- I'm probably more put off by the slobnobbers here than anything else -- but if any station can provide an entertaining mix of talk in the morning, without traffic and weather updates every 10 minutes, I'm game. Also if it turns into McNeil = Dahl, McMurray = Boers then I will probably not last long. Definitely happy to see something new being tried, and quite frankly, timing wise, after football season is the time to strike. There's nothing to talk about in sports for a couple of months (of any great importance.)

I'll likely give it a try for the first week and see how it goes. I am not really a fan of classic rock
anymore but I'll gut it out for a week and see how the show flows. Don't think I have ever heard
the McMurray guy. This would be a sweet schedule if Mac wants to get out fishing and golfing
in the afternoons. Not sure if he will be able to keep it up long term but sounds like an interesting
choice and something different.

Jesus, what did you like? I mean, the Drive is like some of the consensus-est music known to man. At worst, a set of "More Than a Feeling," "Don't Fear the Reaper," and "Does Anybody Really Know What Time It Is?" is, like, tolerable.

The irony is that while Mac may be a musical dinosaur, his taste in the classic rock genre is pretty limited. You can only play so much Zep, AC/DC, Stones and Alice Cooper. There are far more bands that are regularly played on the Drive that he has expressed disdain for. I wonder how his new bosses will view his bashing of Seger, Styx, Clapton,...etc. while the subsequent hosts sing their praises for the rest of the day.

btw CH is on fire in this thread. as i was reading page 1 i was thinking "none of this is official until larz says so" and eventually minooka meatball got that in there, but then CH came in and just let loose on the man, the myth, the legend that is an inspiration to CSFMB legend SHARK.

i can picture a nuclear holocaust and there's like 12 people left on earth and as news slowly perambulates through the remaining packs of survivors larz will be somewhere to shit all over all the information until he can verify it, and then SHARK will be there to signal boost whatever larz says.

i love SHARK, but he's like the second echo after the first echo of larz. and then the law of averages dictates that there's someone out there who takes SHARK information and effectively retweets/reblogs/reposts it and life goes on.

I think the Drive DJs may have limited input into their playlists. Not sure. I know they research the shit out of their playlist (and then, in turn, other classic-hits stations here research the shit out of the Drive), but there might be a couple open slots where they can play what they want.
