Yeah I dislike Morey but Barkley just sounds like an ignoramus as usual here. Making him the stand-in for all analytics is simply attacking a strawman, as is dismissing anything he's ever done on the basis of a whopping 1 (one) regular season game.

If you want to see how to properly rip Morey a deserved new one, this article which I think only CH and I read does the trick: https://medium.com/the-cauldron/the-man ... f16d8b754a

Its laughable to read some of the threads from the summer involving his potential signing. The pre Anthony and post Anthony signing comments are paradoxical in nature. The about face aspects of it all are stunning.
If I were you I'd never mention Carmelo Anthony ever again.

He'll rewrite history and have a conversation with himself.

Unlike you I don't flip flop and grasp at whatever is expedient. I'm consistent in my opinion and views which gives me some semblance of credibility. You will also take both sides of a position in order to at least be half right.

Sounds good.

Goff never said that it was. It made the Knicks a better team at the time. That was his basic argument. The Knicks would be better if they had the ball in his hands and not Jeremy Lin's. That has been proven to be true. He never said they would be NBA champions. They didnt have enough talent around him to be NBA champions. He may have been able to be the best player on a championship team in his prime. If he had the supporting cast he may been able. That time has past now. It doesn't make the guy any different than any other player including James and Durant. Anthony has never been on a team that should win a championship. Your all or nothing attitude about great players is ironically similar to the approach taken by individuals like a Bernstein who says that the regular season doesn't matter. Its a lazy way to watch sports. Using this metric no one who hasn't ever won anything is ever any good. The guy is a hall of famer and one of the best players of his era. It may be time for you and others to admit it and move on.

You can count on a Bernstein mention 75% of the time.

The only reason that it is done is because I honestly believe that the sports opinions expressed on here are based upon thoughts that originate from sports talk radio. Rarely to quote the great Terry Boers is an original thought ever expressed.

Problem with that way of thinking is most people here don't listen to or like Bernstein. The people that listen believe he is wrong about everything. Every thread is about how wrong he is about everything or something stupid he said.

You're right about that. There is a lot of criticism of the guy. A number of things that he is an advocate for also becomes advocated on here. In this case it was not about what he said but what he does. Its lazy to base the greatness of players on whether they win championships or not. That seems to have become much more prevalent during the sport talk era. Its bigger than Anthony for me. It also transcends the different sports. Whenever there is a discussion of whether a player is great or not the first thing that people jump to is "did he win a championship". I watch the game. The eye test if you are a sports fan should tell you whether a player is great. Best ever talk usually devolves into "did he win". Its lazy to me and I would much rather watch the game and debate the issue.

I think championships matter. In my world winning 1 will go a long way. Marino skill wise is probably the best QB I've seen but he doesn't crack my top 5 because he has 0 rings.

Those were the Favre guys. He hasn't been able to win with his guys. Besides the NFL didn't want Big Rapist to win and they were desirous to see a homosexual win a Super Bowl.

I have no clue. Other than the size of my son's head I'm beginning to question if me or their mom are related to them.

He is the best that Ive ever seen also. I dont factor championships into it if a player has played on teams that weren't supposed to win anything. I prefer to look at guys and base their greatness moreso on whether they make teams better. Marino never had a running game or defense and yet he took his to the playoffs every yr. The guy took Clayton and Duper and made them all pros. He carried his team every yr. Thats greatness. It was same for me with Elway. Elway for me was a top five qb before he ever won anything. When you look at those Broncos teams there wasnt much there and yet he took them to multiple Super Bowls.

That era for me was the best era ever in terms of quarterbacks.

Elways is/was overrated because he had a knack for the dramatic.

He was very good.

John Elway's Quarterback was a great video game with an awesome glitch

Select "Normal Play" the receiver at the top of the screen would run 40 yards down field in less than a second. Good times.
