So if Boers is talking to a black caller about the NBA and disagrees with a thought the caller may have (even that is a longshot if he's black), does he call him a dumbass Negro? Why is it ok to call a NASCAR fan dumbass cracker? So much for the Beardown is crazy, they never call people crackers contingent

Goff once yelled at me saying "I have never called a white person a "Cracker".

I had to explain to him that he is "technically" correct. But I also had to explain that when he hits "dumb ass cracker" button on a white caller it's him calling that person a "cracker". "Cracker" is a slur. People who use slurs are bigots. Thus Goff is a bigot. Goff hit that button hundreds of times in his Score career. Maybe over a thousand.

Like Badrogue is saying, could a white producer hit a "Dumb ass negro" button and it be OK? Could he say "It's not me saying it?"

Briefly listening as I ran an errand in the car. A WTF moment followed by MadduxBoy. The PTFB reaction comes now instantaneously. Don't know what led up to it but so unnecessary, can't even "hate listen".

Yeah, this hasn't exactly been a hive of activity lately. I guess JRW really was a hate-listening extravaganza. Now all that's here is people who wonder why there's no White History Month.

"TV news is pushing some sort of populist agenda. Shame on them for that." Only Dan.

And more bad Steve Goodman thoughts along with this idea that Mark Grote is going to bring "edge" to the broadcast. Come on, he's the Funny Impression Guy, not Lenny Bruce.

I have never known one single white person who was bothered by being called a "cracker." You can call me "cracker" all day long, I will just giggle and shrug it off.

It is not even a real slur.

If he has a few drinks before the post game, he'll have an edge.

But you're right. I don't think anybody would describe Grote as having an "edge". Not even Grote himself.

Grote is going to be bad, but out of the choices they had, he might of been the best. They really kept the bar low for this hiring. Dan is really trying to sell the poker tournament. Only 3 days left, no sellout, and they have given away 10 spots in the last 3 shows. Goff was even on twitter this weekend trying to sell the camp. Guessing Berns must of asked him to put it out there.

Connor McKnight was the better choice in my opinion. McKnight seems more cutout for a cookie cutter pre & post game host position. Grote is better suited for a host role.

Did he really say that? I guess I shouldn't be surprised. It's pretty obvious he feels his job as a member of the media is to be a mouthpiece for the rich.

Yeah he broke bad on them. Can't remember if it was shame on you or unfortunate.

No, it was definitely "shame on them."

The Nation wrote about the effect gentrification has had on youth baseball in inner cities. Shame on them.

Quote:
Many of the few African-American players on Major League rosters actually come from the suburbs. This is because twenty-first-century neoliberal cities have gentrified urban black baseball to death. Boys and Girls Clubs have become bistros. Baseball fields are condos and in many cities, Little League is non-existent. The public funds for the infrastructure that baseball demands simply do not exist, but the land required for diamonds are the crown jewels of urban real estate. That’s what made JRW such a profound anomaly. In Chicago particularly, which under Mayor Rahm Emanuel has seen school closures and brutal cuts to physical education programs, their success made people believe that—with apologies to Tupac—flowers could in fact grow in concrete.

It was in reference to local media's coverage of the #JRW title stripping. Please take note, that was Walter Cronkite Bernsie and not Jerry Lewis Bernsie saying that.

Nah, I guess that's just a creep on a mission.

Pittmike: "Mission creep" is a term usually applied to military conflicts that experience changing objectives and result in prolonged engagement.

Yeah I looked it up but not sure how it applies here. Whatever, I already thought about it too long.
