Amen brother. I was thinking this very thought yesterday when I heard this horrible commercial. If that song was that singer's dream, I think he must have had a horrible nightmare. I know his terrible song is causing me to have nightmares.

This song sounds like he was in horrible pain while he was singing it. It sounds like he was recording it while having dental surgery without anesthesia. If you want to torture a terrorist, just play this song to them repeatedly at maximum volume. They will tell you any information you need to know.

I would strongly encourage this aspiring "artist" to enter a different line of work, like accounting, in which nobody will ever have to hear his voice again.

I just heard this. It's Jeff Buckley with a very bad case of laryngitis.

Once again, CBS radio has scoured the earth to find the woman with the most annoying voice. They're building quite the stable with the gravely-voiced bitch already in the fold, and now added to it this bitch. She also does the read for the commercial about a bad water heater spoiling her vacation. I don't know why they're dedicated to finding women with ultra-irritating voices, but there can't be any serious doubt that that's what's occurring, at this point.

Can't stand both of 'em. The Norway bitch says every sentence in the form of a question? As for the other, yeah, I've already given my thoughts many times. I'd like to introduce them both to the Rack from Saw III.

I don't hate this commercial. In fact, I'm not even sure what it's for. But it's a black dude talking about all this shit he's going to buy with the money he gets or saves via whatever product the ad is selling. Anyway, he mentions how he really wants to go to Ireland. And it just strikes me as odd every time. While I'm sure there are plenty of brothers who might like to travel to Ireland, I've never met one who had it at the top of his bucket list. It would ring more true if it was some goof with a "CHI-RISH" tattoo who sounds like Mike North.

It's for his girlfriend/wife, who is implied to be Irish. You were right about your generation being subversive in ads.

I don't think a brother has been this excited about Ireland since Phil Lynott.

Few things are less appealing, or sexy, than a sports-talk radio guy reading copy for sexualized teddy bears or pajamas with hidden compartments for "easy access."

Especially when his tone never changes throughout the read. He sounds like a robot.

The Adam Harris one was the worst, as one would expect.

Who loves shepherd's pie, anyway? That's what you eat in college cafeterias.

Man, my GF and I stayed in an Irish "cottage" in Galena. We each had shepherd's pie on the first night and had diarrhea the next couple days. Not a fun trip.

The McDonald's Triple Cheeseburger will take your hunger to a cabin in the woods...

Not sure if it is intentional, or implied, but to me this ad is all about what is left unsaid. What is it we wish to "do" to our hunger? Embrace it? Make sweet love to it? Quite the opposite.

Once it has established a position of trust, the McDonalds Triple Cheeseburger will throw your hunger and a shovel in the trunk of a car and drive to a wooded area far away from the main road. The Mcdonalds Triple Cheeseburger will drag your hunger, dazed and weeping, along with the aforementioned shovel, from the trunk of said car. The McDonalds Triple Cheeseburger will curtly instruct your hunger to start digging...

The sound of children singing displeases me.

The new Jeep commercial with children singing and then humming is brutal.

I like the irony in the Jeep commercial that the kids sing the names of American presidents to the tune of Ten Little Indians.

Have you guys heard Willie Wilson's radio commercial? I don't know what's going on in that. The theme from Jeopardy! is playing in the background and there are people talking but I have a difficult time understanding what they're saying, let alone figuring out what they're actually talking about.

I looked it up, and it's apparently about red light cameras.

Nope. Tell you what hate, and I know you've mentioned it before, but the Buick commercial. Not for the music. Not for the fact that Buick's logo is one of the most easily recognized car logos there, so who the fuck couldn't spot a Buick. No. It's when that woman gets into the wrong car (the one that LOOKS like a Buick, but ISN'T a Buick) with that pencil dick eating a sub sandwich. The stupid fucking looks he gives her makes me want to chuck my coffee table through my TV.

It's the awful American Family Insurance song. The music stands say "DePaul University" on them. He's one of ours.

How do we feel about the First American commercials? I sort of like Dickie and his ambiguously Balto-Slavo-Jewish grandma, but they changed the actress in the new one, the one about "selling pot."

I like those, but there's this other campaign with this weird guy who says stuff like "if First American were a woman, I'd marry her, and then my mom would finally get those grandkids she keeps asking about," and now "I'm not alternative, I don't like alternative rock, I don't live an alternative lifestyle, maybe I would if I knew what it was." This is some pretty messed-up sexuality on display here, from playing coy about a common euphemism for homosexuality to wishing he could get a bank pregnant to satisfy his overbearing mother. Usually people who talk like this wind up swinging from the garage rafters having held back more issues than a Reader's Digest collector. I don't want to bank with First American if this weirdo is, I'll tell you that much right now.

I love, LOVE, those commercials.

IIRC the guy who plays Dickie was doing similar, deadpan-style commercials for Weil Olds in Libertyville in the late 70s early 80s.
