Call it what you like but it is definitely more fair. Nothing more nothing less. If the government or population have more concerns that need to be addressed in social issue they can simply raise the rate or use the money saved by eliminating 80% of the IRS.

It really isn't fair at all IMO. The poor and the middle class would pay a higher percentage of their income in taxes.

Before all the Chussing though I said they needed to calculate carefully the percentage. It does not have to be that high as I see it because the rich will pay more as a whole especially when I suggested eliminating ALL deductions. The sales tax on one private jet will replace a lot of funds to feed the poor.

The rich will pay more in terms of actual dollars but everyone else will pay a higher percentage. IMO this really punishes the poor because they will ultimately pay the highest percentage of their income in taxes.

Stop making this about me. I'm just asking you to explain your position that something is "un-American" simply because you disagree with it.

This notion that one opinion is more American than another, or somebody loves America more than somebody else is stupid.

I just got an American flag tattooed on my forehead. Nobody is more American than me.

Depends on your definition of regressive, though. Flat is flat. Technically, regressive would mean you actually pay a lower rate as your income increases (which never happens). These days people like to use "regressive" more in terms of sales taxes to income, i.e., Joe Sixpack pays the same amount of sales tax on his underwear as Louis Winthorpe III, but that tax represents a higher portion of his take-home pay, therefore he considers it a regressive tax.

That's what I was doing. I was including sales tax in the equation. If we focused exclusively on income tax then it would ne different.

Could it possibly be that there simply isn't enough money to do all the things budget wise we need to do service everything state-wise? That there are simply too many people to provide for with the amount of money there is to work with? Or is it that theres plenty ( or enough) cash and just needs to redistributed differently?

Nope. I believe there is a lot of waste and unnecessary spending. The fear of raising anything beyond the cigarette tax is another problem.

I think there is plenty of money if we were to approach the budget reasonably, on more of a current, year-by-year basis. The biggest problems are the "unknowns" that have been promised for the future (primarily public pensions), that are taking up increasingly enormous chunks of government revenue.
