to actually get serious and answer the OP's question, i think calling b&b shitposters "obsessors" is akin to the scousers asking liverpool haters the timeless question "WHY ARE YOU SO OBSESSED WITH LIVERPOOL?!?!?!"

dan bernstein used to be one of us. he was "just a guy" doing a little goofy radio show that was the station's changeup in their veritab le pitching repetoire. now the show is a nice solid 89mph grooved fastball that's thrown by FOTStein, who is evidently realizing his life's dream of being one of "them" (management/ownership/establishment/etc) so while "the show has evolved" just like howard stern constantly said when howard shifted his gears from neurotically needing the love and validation of his fans to needing the love and validation of his peers/bosses/company, the fanbase has pretty much stayed the same. and go figure when you have a show that gets big-n-popular being the outsider/underdog cutting on everything establishment, welp, those fans who loved that shit are still going to be cutting on everything establishment.,... and when that includes the show that they used to love, hey, at least someone in this listener/host partnership still keeps it real to this very day.

and that's what ppl are doing NDeezy, they're not seriously obsessed with dan bernstein as much as they're just constantly busting his balls in much the same way he used to do to so many sacred cows of the establishment... and now since he's arguably the most sacred cow of the score establishment, welp, go figure when you flip the script on your most hardcore fans they're going to have the most/best ammo against you since they're legit longtime fans of you. remember harry and spike? yeah well spike's about 500 times worse at radio than bernstein, but nobody ever cared about him enough to have DA FIRE AND DA PASHIN when they light him up with the shitposting. it's kind of like how the friar's club only roasts those who they love.... well add a D to that phrase and that explains this phenomenon you speak of.

I met them once at a remote about 8 years ago. They were both very nice.

I was once a guy that emailed all the time, but I slowly faded out. I was actually interested in the Penn State stuff through the trial and Freeh report, but not too long after that I tuned them out. I didn't listen to them for about a year just because I was out of the habit and not as interested in sports.

This August I tuned into them more regularly and was immediately taken aback by what a flagrant apologist/defender for team ownership he had become. I remember Gordon Wittenmyer complaining to M&H about Dan's attack on his article about a prospect.

The gist of the article was Gordon wrote about how a prospect was disappointed he hadn't been called up this year because the Cubs wanted to save money by keeping him in the minors. Gordon cited past instances where treating a prospect like that has come back to bite the Cubs come arbitration because the players remember that sort of thing.

Mac and Grimace asked Dan about it during transition and Dan basically just said "well, he's wrong about everything and he's an idiot. And they're gonna be out of business soon anyways, the Tribune's been printing their papers for them."

I was so disappointed. He'd rather take a shot at the Sun-times going out of business than explain what Gordon was so wrong about. And what was he so wrong about? Gordon mostly talked about the player's feelings and *GASP* named his sources on that who were the player and the player's dad. Does Dan's Cubs guy have better information on a player's feelings than the player and the player's family?

So that was really aggravating and then I noticed how much he did it for a lot of teams in this town. Mouthpiece for power as people have said on here.

That's when I searched online for a place to complain about it and to see what other people thought of it and I found this place.

I haven't listened much at all since the Quote of the Year show. I read on here a good amount just hoping for some of his "sources" bullshit to blow up in his face, but maybe that's a false hope.

I switch back and forth to avoid commercials as much as possible. Sometimes I end up on B&B sometimes on am1000. I turn off B&B if they are getting nasty about stupid details or not giving the caller time to finish his thought. Berating stupid callers doesn't bother me, if warranted, as it often is, but when they jump down someones throat who hasn't actually made their point, I usually change the channel. Not as a protest, or "to show them" just because I feel like turning the channel.

You could put monkeys on both stations and would still listen, switching back and forth avoiding commercials. Music and politics just aren't my think when commuting. Sports Radio is the least uninteresting subject on the radio for me.
