I didnt think Barkely and Kenny Smith on the tournament was good either

Barkley is terrible on the NCAA Tournament stuff. It's clear that he doesn't follow the game. He really doesn't even know half the guys who play in the NBA? Who he play for?

Kenny does put in enough effort to know the players and teams involved.

ESPN does an announcer swap every so often where they send Dickey V to an NBA game and Van Gundy to a college game.

The best is when Van Gundy gets mad when a travel is called in college when a guy clearly took three steps. It's only the actual rule on what traveling should be!

Huh. I wouldnt have guessed that. Id have guessed Van Gundy would be all about the way college is.

Also, Barkely's whole appeal is he will tell brutal truths about NBA players because they're pros

He wont do that with college kids

All the NBA guys seem to have this weird complex about college.

Stephen A. Smith was on College Gameday this weekend, and was pretty much the same way. They asked him "What does college do better than the NBA?" and his response was "Nothing".

I know it is his schtick to be dumb like that but you'd think he could have found a way to make NBA fans mad by saying something instead.

He is correct though. Unless you include coaches control over players. They do that better in college than the NBA.

Are there really people who think the NBA is better than the NCAA Tournament?

Why?

Some like higher quality basketball. Superstar players. The best vs the best.

Its not crazy.

The tournament is fun, but that Butler championship game with the terrible shooting was pretty hard to watch

Higher quality players, sure. But it's not higher quality basketball. It's the same boring pick and roll offenses game after game. In college they actually do run a ton of stuff.

I love the NCAA tournament and enjoy small doses of regular season College basketball.
I find the NBA to be a horrible product but not sure how some people find that to be racist?
The Silvys of the world who live and die with that league seriously blow my mind.

I also like college football more than the NFL IF the Bears aren't involved and I've never heard of that being a racist thought.

But the NBA playoff teams score less per shot than the NCAA Tournament teams.

Yes.

Give me a list of things that are better about the actual game play in college basketball.

1) A wider range of styles.
2) Rules that are closer to the actual rules of basketball.
3) Superstar calls happen much less often.
4) 20% of the teams aren't tanking for draft picks.
5) Much better rivalries result in some really cool games.
6) Many more important regular season games.
7) Better atmosphere.
8) The first weekend of March Madness is amazing fun.

Is that enough?

I understand if someone likes the NBA better. Good for you. To act like the NBA does everything better than college is just dumb.

It's not all about offense.

Ive always been more of an NBA guy. Im not gonna apologize for that.

Nothing in college has ever matched the excitement of the Bulls teams (even before the titles as they climbed the Detroit mountain) for me.

I don't think anything in college will match the 90s Bulls either. The 90s Bulls are gone though.

That's fine. You like what you like. But it's totally subjective. You can't criticize college basketball as being inferior due to poor shooting and then say it doesn't matter when I point out how NBA teams are actually more inefficient on offense.

wider range of styles = 1 team rotating the ball around the perimeter clockwise instead of counter clockwise for 30 seconds before throwing up a terrible shot

A terrible shot that is more likely to go in than one in the NBA.

The numbers are what they are. Sure, the worst NBA team shoots far better than the worst college team, but if we're looking at the teams that are playing in the Tournament or the median, NCAA teams shoot better and score more per shot.

go ahead, go all Bernsie on me and breakdown all these various styles for me, i'm sure the fact that Gonzaga players set a pick slightly different than players on UCLA makes for thrilling basketball

I also don't know why it would matter anyways. Hitting a higher percentage of your shots across the whole league isn't necessarily a positive. Imagine an NBA where they hit 95% of all shots. Would that be better than the current one?

I could make the same argument using the same points for high school basketball over college basketball. My point was there nothing about the actual game play is better. I do agree the NCAA tournament is highly entertaining.
