From the Trib...

"GM Rick Hahn said Sale was injured while unloading his truck, when he jumped off it and landed awkwardly. Sale didn't provide more details, only joking twice that he did it while fighting off an intruder in his home."

I thought 2005 theory was only in effect if 'it is feared Sale broke his foot', the reality of breaking the foot really screws it all up, now thye have no chance.

No big deal the White Sox only will be missing a low end #2 starter for a few weeks.

I've been saying for years that the way he jumps off a truck will eventually lead to an injury.

So, are we believing his story?

I automatically consider any athlete's explanation of how a domestic injury occurred to be a lie.

Agreed.

Id guess some version of the story happened but worse. Like he was completely drunk and fell off the truck

I think a multimillionaire breaking a foot unloading a truck is embarrassing enough to be true.

Like cutting your arm after slipping on a McDonald's bag?
Or breaking your hand tripping over a gym back?
Or a busting your wrist washing your truck?

He did it while kicking Patrick Sharp in the face while he was having sex with someone's pregnant wife while her equally pregnant sister's joined in while being taped by their mother.

So right now it looks like

OD Shark
2 Q
3 Noe
4 Danks
5 <FILL IN>
1 Sale
2 Shark
3 Q
4 Noe
5 Danks

Which is fine. The clamoring for Rodon to be called up for one single start is annoying though. Bring him up and keep him up, if they want to do that at the beginning of the season OK but none of this bouncing between Charlotte and Chicago shit.

I'd wait and see if Danks lucks his way into a good ERA early in the season to make that $14.5m go away no questions asked before going to Rodon, though.

let him earn his way to the majors

Carroll has given them lightning in a bottle for a couple of starts in the past. There are plenty of other guys who can do the same. It really is only 1-2 starts.

I really want to see Erik Johnson win that 5th starter spot. He has the stuff to be a solid major league starter he just needs to get his head right. Then they can move Noesi to the bullpen where he belongs. That will allow them to wait on Rodon until around June 1 to really give the bullpen a shot in the arm.

Noesi is a starter and should remain one. He was tried as a reliever multiple times, and it was all a colossal fucking disaster. At least as a starter with the Sox he strung together a few good games.

They also brought him in to start games.

You will never convince Keyser otherwise. Once he gets it in his head that "player X is not a position Y" he will beat that into the ground until player X is no longer a member of the White Sox. Noesi is likely to put up better numbers than John Danks this season.

Case in point, Moises Sierra on the Sox last season. He was just fine as a 4th OF and late inning pinch runner. He saw the field too much only because of poor decision making by Ventura.

On track to make season debut during the Sox first homestand.

http://m.whitesox.mlb.com/news/article/ ... lated-game
Quote:
"I feel great, really," Sale said. "Today was a big confidence booster being able to go out there five different times and really do everything I've always done. I can pitch in a game right now. I just can't cut.

"It's not like I'm a running back or anything, but I'd still like to be able to field my position and cover all the areas. You want to get as much work as you can within those 75 pitches, and today we did that. We mixed in all the pitches, front-door, back-door breaking balls, fastballs to both sides, changeups. We just did situational stuff, stretch, windup, everything. It was a good day."

Progress made by Sale means that the White Sox won't need a fifth starter before he arrives, with an off-day following Opening Day in Kansas City. Without any setbacks, the Shark Cage and the Sale K Zone will be on display in the final two days of that first abbreviated homestand.
