probably killed himself when he realized he'd have to move in with his parents after child support payments.

Dan is still trying to tell the story he was trying to tell last week.

"THIS IS BIGGER THAN HOCKEY", Bernstein said. Then some other words in his typical cryptic tone.

I picked up on it last week. He's trying to say that Sharp lead to the equip guy killing himself once he found out that Sharp was doing his wife. He's still trying to get this message out. Without actually saying it, of course.

The blog didn't report this one.

Probably because its , you know, bullshit.

I dont know all the juicy details but how do we know the guy didnt kill himself because his wife cheated? I believe that's actually a common reason given in notes, etc

Nobody else is to blame when someone kills himself.

Bernstein has crossed into scumbage territory by perpetuating this story. This/his story goes beyond Sharp and towards the whole team. What, in an alpha sport Sharp gets to nail anything that moves and everybody is hunkydory with the situation? This isn't a loose collection of local poon but other player's wives. Where has such a situation ever existed before? Not that there haven't been such transgressions before but management will do what it has to do to keep a peaceful locker room. If half of the allegations are true the Blackhawks would have taken the "A" first, and then moved him.

Bernstein isn't a journalist, he's playing the shock-jock role and he is ignorant of both the short and long term ramifications. Short term, he's putting himself out there to be taken down. That's the way the world works. Unlike others who purvey gossip they at least have some boundaries. They at least see more than just one side of the story. Sharp, Keith, and others in that locker room have not just wives but children who while very young, will grow up to know who this asshole really is.

But its not just the players children but his own children. His son is going to have to get used to having his father referred to as a scumbag. He can be the world's greatest dad at home, but in the hallways of high school he'll be a scumbag. And as the fallout from this comes about there'll be more invective he'll have to hear.

Long term Bernstein's name is going to be synonymous with clubhouse/organization cancer. His "sources" aren't operations but organizational, they are replaceable. Don't think these teams, the least of which is worth several hundred million dollars, are going to sit around and pretend there is nothing they can do. They'll endeavor to find the sources and terminate them. All it will is take one person to get fired and the rest will treat him like he's got full blown ebola.

You're putting a lot of blame on Bernstein for what is most likely scummy behavior by Patrick Sharp

The whole "they would have traded him or removed the A if the allegations were true" is a very flimsy theory.

It could end up being right but to act like its proof is silly.

bernstein was pretty dug in yesterday. I'm guessing he's pretty certain there's some scandalous shit out there or he wouldn't take such a strong position. All the denials from the Hawks ring pretty hollow. What else would they say?

Hawks fans are understandably letting their emotions get involved.

They want these things to be false.

They should send Patrick Sharp to sex rehab.

I wonder if there would be as much outrage if this story was about a player from the Bears or Bulls.

That is an interesting concept. In most addiction treatment plans they are based in 12 step ideas. The most important is that you refrain from your issue one day at a time forever in simple terms. With food and sex addiction they somehow skirt that part?

Bears-Yes
Bulls-No

Hawks are hot right now. Would be reversed if this was 1996

Sex rehab isn't real. It's something you go to so you can avoid getting a divorce. Nobody who didn't care about staying married ever went to sex rehab.

"Most likely" leaves a lot of ambiguity. Whenever stories like this emerge they don't have a shelf life this long because somebody will confirm the story. Bernstein has had a run of stories which not are just unconfirmed but ultimately untrue.

No more flimsy than everyone going along with this situation because "he's Patrick Sharp, and my wife/girlfriend is a skank who can't help herself." His alleged behavior is not that of a leader, so who/why would he continue to be considered as such.

I'm not a B&B fanboy and will admit that I've beomce a Bernstein skeptic. Bernstein doesn't do any real legwork and his information comes too conveniently timed for his radio show. While I don't read what he writes I have to wonder if he's written anything about this, if not why not (libel)?

A player stepping out isn't anything new, but this story has taken on proportions that make it hard to believe everything is true. Remember, this story started as something he claimed the organization wanted. Trade deadline was yesterday, the team made several moves, Sharp is still wearing an "A".

Just because Sharp wasnt traded doesnt mean they werent trying to trade him.

Everything else could be explained by the organization not wanting to throw gas on the fire. If they took his "A" people would be taking that as proof, like youre taking it the other way, right?

I picked up on it last week. He's trying to say that Sharp lead to the equip guy killing himself once he found out that Sharp was doing his wife. He's still trying to get this message out. Without actually saying it, of course.

and by the Cheryl Scott transitive equation, that is on his wife, not on Sharp

We'll discuss that over some drinks sometime.

Im didnt mean to blame the wife though. But certain things done by loved ones can push someone over the edge. That is a fact we can both agree on.

RPB I feel you do not get the grasp of the amount of importance the A or C hold on a hockey team. This is like no other sport. If there were half the shit we hear especially the teammate (another A) wife or equipment guy that A would be gone. Period.

True but I don't think he's going to be my guy much longer. My feelings are fading. I've always listened to the podcasts of parts you guys talk about so I know what's going on here. I tried listening when MJH broke up but it didn't take. I don't like bernstein, he's a jerk.

Lets work this out

You're saying that if a player did what Sharp is accused of he would have his "A" removed, right?

Do you think the Blackhawks are ignorant of this fact?

Wouldn't it be logical that the Blackhawks executives know this and were afraid to do it?

I mean the way you guys are attaching this whole thing to the letter A the Hawks had BETTER NOT remove the A because you guys will all be convinced Sharp is guilty

With that said, Im not a big hockey guy. I understand the meaning, I think

I think the guys in the dressing room know who to look up to without the letters. For instance, Kane was attending every optional practice while Toews and Sharp were blowing them off.
