I sincerely hope the Sox get the hell off WSCR and go somewhere else. WGN would be perfect.

Cubs and Hawks on 720, Bulls on 1000, Bears on 670 would be ideal. Sox, I dunno, either 670 or some FM station because it's not like they need to cover 38 states and some provinces with the sound of Ed Farmer.

Remember the days when the Score openly stated that having a team broadcast on their station would impair their credibility and impartiality?

Easy to say when you're a 5,000-watt daytimer under family ownership. That's like Leery saying the Expos didn't draft him because they weren't ready for a strong black man.

What the hell happened here?

These guys were iconoclasts in the not too distant past. I feel like I'm watching a hippie who became a hedge fund manager.

Did.Not.Happen.

Bernstein has pretty much always been a servant of power. He began his career by criticizing Wannsted, but since then he's played the role of ownership's puppet quite well.

He didn't criticize until the second 4-12 season.

Bernsie was the perfect employee causing no issues and surprisingly did not ask really difficult questions as a score beat guy. As he moved into hosting and later his full time gig he saw his power grow and no we are led to hear. Like all people that rise and get too far into their own power/ego there is later a fall. The Chicago radio scene is littered with these guys.

Broadcasting teams has not proven to increase ratings and has cut down on the quality of the lineup

Trib:

Quote:
Mayor Rahm Emanuel stopped short of ruling out an expansion of construction hours at Wrigley, but both he and city building officials said the change is not allowed under current city code.

"I gotta see a proposal, I gotta work with the alderman," Emanuel told the Tribune. "I've been clear about what the city code says, so that's a nonstarter from the city code unless the alderman and the community have a different perspective."

As it was explained to me, deferring lack of approval to #Cubs and @AldTomTunney is part of a long game to remove a problematic alderman from #44thward.

Dan's way too careful with corporate to really get fired. This stuff is all pipe dreams. If management talks, he listens. The problem is they just don't police him very often. If the heat finally gets put on, you'll see a transformation in Dan, I promise you that. He'll be a chameleon.

This goof should stop commenting on Chicago politics since he has no fucking clue. If Emanuel wanted Tunney out he could have put his weight behind Mark Thomas who is a long time neighborhood guy and was a viable candidate. Mark even had some gay backing. I saw a campaign picture of him in the midst of some leather boys. Tunney will be in office long after Rahm is gone.

Another unsophisticated Dan post.

Tunney destroyed his competition in an election two weeks ago and has already given strong indications he will retire after this four year term.

As I wrote in an earlier post, deferral of this sort occurs in just about every case. This is not unique.

Dan is wrong, as he has been at just about every point in the Cubs redevelopment plan. If he is wrong on this, it has lead me to believe that he is wrong on the innumerable other issues on which he attempts to speak with authority.

Thing that irked me the most yesterday is Dan saying Mirotic doesn't have that high of ceiling. If Mirotic isn't a 20+ 8+ guy I would be completely surprised. All he has to do is figure out the NBA and he should be fine. Thankfully Thibs has no choice but to play him.

Dan was in love with Mirotic originally...because he now wants to denigrate the Bulls (somewhat rightfully so) he has changed course somewhat...
