locker can't even finish a single game most weeks.... hell he came in after mettenberger got hurt and proceeded to get hurt himself that same game... again

if you can get claussen at near league minimum I would be fine with him as #2. He seemed to be competent.

He looked like a slightly worse Jay Cutler in his only game.

The Bears went 5-11 with Cutler. They maybe go 4-12 or 5-11 with Clauson.

Who the hell cares?

Bring him back as the backup. Or pick from the list of other garbage backups. It doesn't matter.

he Bears on Friday re-signed quarterback Jimmy Clausen to a one-year contract extension through the 2015 season.

Clausen, 27, served as Jay Cutler’s backup last year, completing 26 of 48 passes for 233 yards with two touchdowns, one interception and a 71.8 passer rating in four games.

Bears re-sign Jimmy Clausen
“I’m really excited to be back here and get a jump-start on this upcoming season,” Clausen told ChicagoBears.com. “There’s a lot of energy going on in this building and I’m really excited for what’s to come.”

Clausen made his first NFL start in nearly four years last Dec. 21 against the Lions, completing 23 of 39 passes for 181 yards with two touchdowns, one interception and a 77.0 passer rating.

Unfortunately, Clausen suffered a concussion in the loss to Detroit at Soldier Field, forcing the Notre Dame product to miss the season finale a week later against the Vikings in Minnesota.

The Lions game was Clausen’s first start since his rookie season in 2010 when he opened 10 games for the Panthers after being selected by Carolina in the second round of the draft. He didn’t appear in a regular-season game the next three seasons, serving as Cam Newton’s backup in 2011-12 before missing the 2013 campaign with a shoulder injury.

Clausen’s head coach with the Panthers during his rookie season was John Fox.

“I’m excited to link back up with coach Fox,” Clausen said. “He’s very passionate. He loves the game of football and he’s a real fiery coach. Like I said, there’s a lot of energy here now. I’ve talked to a couple of [teammates] and everybody’s fired up to get back in the building in a month and get going.”

Clausen originally signed with the Bears last June 5 and appeared in three preseason games, completing 24 of 37 passes for 280 yards with two touchdowns, one interception and a 94.4 passer rating.

Clausen expected to attract some interest on the free agent market but wanted to return to the Bears.

“I really wanted to come back to Chicago,” he said. “I had a great talk with [offensive coordinator] Adam Gase, [quarterbacks] coach [Dowell] Loggains, coach Fox and [general manager] Ryan Pace. I felt really comfortable with them and what their plans are going forward, and I just told my agents I want to be here.”

They should start Jimmy Clausen. Why not see if they have something there rather going with an unknown?

See if they have something there with Clausen? They don't.
He's a shitty quarterback.
He sucks.
