My laptop (Ausus) has been stuck on this screen for 3 hours. I have tried turning on and off a few times with no luck. There is no external battery and from what I have read online there is no way to get to safe mode without the windows screen actually booting.

Restart it and hold F8.

I can't recall which ones but some PC's use f10 or f12 rather than f8. Also, some use delete key.

Should have gone to Wal-Mart or Target to buy the lap top.

That seems strange.

Try shift-F8.

On mine you hold down the power button for 30 seconds to reset and it seems to work.

Restore it back to factory settings.

I had an old lap top a few years ago. Thought it was dead. Bought a new one. One day I pulled it out of the closet to see if I could get it to work. And I did. I googled how to do it and it worked.

'Escape' should get you to the boot selection menu (probably not germaine unless you have a boot disc/drive)

'F9' for Asus Laptop Recovery (a 'hidden' partition that hopefully resides on your laptop ... but realize this is more or less a 'factory reset' so if there are things on the computer that you want but aren't backed-up, you really need to make a boot disc/drive and try that first)

I suspect a procto exam is preferred to the idea of having to wipe a computer and start from scratch ... at least the misery is over much sooner.

That said, it's understandable because I think he originally typed "Ansus".

Oops, nope, it was "Ausus".

:thumleft: :thumleft:

Did this and reset with an option to keep all my files but delete all applications downloaded. Kinds of annoying to re download everything but lost no files. I back my files up to a manual hard drive but hadn't the last two weeks.
