Seriously  Dan has his kid in a midget league.

No kidding. Yours truly got wang whipped in a basketball game by a 5'8, 10-year-old when I was around that age. It's certainly isn't that rare to see 10 years olds at 5'4

Guess I have to apologize to Bernsie. This chart says 10 years old not usually bigger than 5'.

@KCJHoop: Noah is out vs. 76ers.

@KCJHoop: Noah went through shootaround and Thibodeau said he has "general soreness."

@KCJHoop: Bulls PR now says Noah has left knee soreness. This ends long streak of improved health and movement from Noah.

@KCJHoop: Noah downplaying knee soreness. Said he feels "night and day" difference from start of year. Said he's just "listening to his body."

Dan read KC's tweets on the air but craftily omitted "Said he feels 'night and day' difference from start of year." Everything is bad and dramatic about the Chicago Bulls.

I may be extrapolating too much from Dan's statement, but it does indeed strike me as bizarre that a town that generally can't wait to work the phrase/concept of "Chicago Tough" into any conversation, not just sports, is seemingly falling all over itself to defend Derrick Rose's history (and thus potential this time around) to fiddly-dick around getting back from injury.

I kind of look at it from the opposite perspective. I find it disturbing that a guy who routinely mocks the concept of "Chicago Tough" is using his high profile platform to constantly bash a guy who has had three knee surgeries in less than three years as being weak.

And those doctors that he keeps insisting that Rose trust almost killed Luol Deng. THEY ALMOST KILLED LUOL DENG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Lest it be misconstrued, I'm not stumping for Dan, I just think my 'extrapolation' is, at the very least, an interesting dichotomy to consider ... as I sorta said, I don't even know if that's what he meant.

And sure, I understand the phrase is more a Bears-related one, but two basketball situations off the top of my head are how everyone lauds and magnifies Jordan's effort in the 'flu' game (whether he was actually that sick has been, and will continue to be, debated), while Pippen and his (at the time undiagnosed?) migraine problem in game 7 way back when made him a pariah for quite a while ... looooong before the Kukoc game (the latter, of course, being entirely deserved derision).

I don't get it, Don.

Jordan played.

Pippen didn't.

Exactly.

Pippen was maligned, by many, for not playing.
Derrick is hailed, by seemingly many, as a brave hero for not playing.

It just strikes me as bizarre that a town that tends toward the (generally idiotic) 'Chicago Tough' meme can't wait to hold in high esteem someone that seems (not saying 'is', just seems) to be the diametric opposite of 'Chicago Tough'.

It's just a bit of a sociological anomaly that is a bit puzzling is all. I'm not even speaking to the character of anyone ... Dan, Derrick, Michael, Scottie ... I guess it's just another reminder that people are friggin' fickle.

OK. I guess I just don't understand the issue.

I thought Rose was being vilified for not playing through his injuries.

B&B and the flip-flopping confuse the hell out of me on what I'm supposed to be thinking.

You know how those goofs that call in and say some shit like, "I played in high school..." or "My hockey team just won our eleventh championship at the Skatium..." as a precursor to making some inane point about an athlete? Well, I truly believe bernstein is doing the exact same thing with Rose. He doesn't actually come right out and say it because he's smart enough to know how dumb he would sound, but I really think he believes that he understands the injury because he hurt his knee too and in his mind he compares his experience to what he believes Rose is going through.

Why though? He played his fucking balls off and won an MVP. Then he got hurt. He isn't the same. I know that's frustrating for the fan, but it is what it is. Hating the guy seems irrational to me.

All right here are reasons to hate Rose.....he had someone else take his SAT....when cleared by Bulls doctors to play he refused,,,he knows his body! This from a kid that got an ulcer from a diet of skittles and Kit Kats. Then he talks about being ok for meetings and kids graduations...him being a business man. ....listening to his dumb fuck brother ...need more?????

I don't care about his SAT. What did you score on yours? As for the other stuff, guess what? It is his body. Why are you so dismissive of the fact that the same doctors who cleared him ALMOST KILLED LUOL DENG?

Don't forget his brother going on national TV and bitching about the Bulls not signing big-name free agents...all while Derrick is eating up a huge chunk of the team salary from the sidelines!

I guess you have to be a member of CSFMB to safely complain about the Bulls' failures in the free agent market.

I don't know why nobody from THE SCORE tries to get Reggie Rose on as a guest. Especially B&B.

He's the type that has an ego and wouldn't decline. He'd want to go on the air and fight with Bernstein. It would be good radio.

Derrick, on the other hand, would never go on the SCORE. Reggie wouldn't allow him to do so.

I'm not playing stupid. A lot of people are angry about a guy being hurt and they don't like a black man standing up for himself. That isn't a "race card". It's a fact.

You mean not wanting to recruit Carmelo "The Human Turd" Anthony. If you're a Bulls fan you should send Derrick and Reggie a thank you note.

I'm not talking about any of that. You believe it wasn't ridiculously hypocritical when Reggie did that? Coupled by the fact that Derrick doubled down by saying it's not his job to recruit. Of course it's not his job to recruit. It's not LeBron's job either, but that didn't stop him. I'd say it worked out well.

The calendar suggests that you're gonna have to get off the cross for about nine hours in a few weeks.

Are we talking about Reggie or Derrick? They aren't the same person. Reggie can say whatever the fuck he wants. Besides that, Carmelo says Rose did recruit him. So you can have it either way. I prefer to think that after all the whining on the afternoon show the Rose brothers knew better than the Bulls front office or anyone on the Score just what a piece of shit Carmelo Anthony is.

It's a stupid list and it isn't the real reason. People are mad because he's hurt. If he were winning more MVPs you wouldn't even be mentioning that other shit.
