Is that the thing where Fred would read hip hop lyrics?

I remember Fred's limericks and his movie tips of the week. Man, I've listened to a lot of bad sports radio over the years.

Huebner's thoughts on Daniel Murphy turned me into a Fred hater. Immediate PTFB now.

What did he say?

Years ago, Fred was talking about how he and his wife were considering adopting a child. He said he wife went to an adoption agency to inquire about the process (or something along those lines...this was many years ago) and when she came home she said she wasn't sure if she wanted to adopt anymore because all of the babies she saw were so unattractive. I don't know if you've ever seen a picture of Fred and his wife, but there is very little chance that a carnal union between those two produces anything that is pleasing to the eye.

Yeah, but his soccer-ball bowling ball was kinda neat to look at.

I miss Fred. He was an affable dope. Now the Score just has mean dopes.

Mentioned countless times, but Fred hung out with us at a CSFMB bowling thing and couldn't have been more nicer.

Tad, Fred went on and on last March, criticizing Daniel Murphy and his wife for not planning their pregnancy better. Murphy took the standard (two weeks, I think) paternity leave, as stated in MLB's CBA. Just really rubbed me the wrong way. He's either a moron, or just think it's that easy for some people to get pregnant.

Are you playing "the race card", spmack?

Other than "hot garbage" Mike, I don't know for sure the race of the others. I didn't pick up on the race of "Bernstein, you're a liar" Mike who called with the "west side" tag.

Westside Mike is "hot garbage" Mike. I get annoyed with the term "race card". In the vast majority of instances, there's a damn good reason to "play" it.

I was really just asking spmack about his feelings toward the Westside Mike "bit". I know spmack well enough from this forum that I'm pretty sure he doesn't feel like a stupid brother on the radio reflects on him as a black man. So I was curious what disturbs him about it. Mainly because I find it disturbing, but I'm not exactly sure I can articulate why. There is clearly a racial component there. A rich white kid from Deerfield and a child of white flight who grew up in Steger mocking a crazy old black dude, there's just something untoward. And it doesn't help when Terry breaks out his minstrel voice.

We need more "Westside Mikes" but not necessarily more of west side Mike (garbage edition).

You guys blow my mind sometimes. You resent Derrick Rose for not being able to play the way you want him to on two shredded knees, but you have complete compassion and understanding for some pussy who takes two fuckin' weeks off to "help" a woman have a baby.

It's because D Rose is black, remember?

It wasn't the two weeks part. It was the fact that Fred thought they failed to PLAN the pregnancy during the MLB offseason. You, nor I, nor Fred knows what they went through to get pregnant. Some couples try and try for years and are unsuccessful. That's the shit that pissed me off.

That analogy doesn't work at all. If a white caller called up and tried to imitate Westside Mike's way of speaking (and B&B enjoyed it in the same fashion), then it would make sense. I'd say it's more analogous to a white DJ like Alan Freed playing a black singer to a white audience.

But to say this is somehow racist or even mocking... give me a fucking break. Can a white person be entertained by a black person or black culture without "being racist"/apologizing?

And JORR, that isn't even remotely close to being an apt comparison.

If a woman has a C-section, as my wife did twice, it takes a while for her to recover.

More '27 Yankees talk... I mean Cubs spring training. No attention to Micah, Garcia or Abreu but Schwarber is Babe Ruth. And Cub fans here wonder why Sox fans get pissed off.

Dan says he has a guy that emailed him about Kyle Schwarber being a better hitter than Kris Bryant: He's "Babe Fucking Ruth." I've got a guy that tells me Addison Russell is the best hitter of the three. I've also got a guy that tells me Bryant is Albert Pujols. And another guy tells me Jorge Soler is going to have a ridiculous career.

Dan's mad at reporters who fawn over players. Fawning over executives and owners is okay.

Ok, we've hit Peak Dan Bernstein. It can't get any higher than this.

No, we hit Peak Dan Bernstein yesterday when his monocle fell out and he called someone "ill-raised."

So now we're comparing accountants and salesmen to guys who get paid millions to play sports. I really hope Schwarber is Babe Ruth and the Cubs are in a heated pennant race with the Cardinals and he takes two weeks off to "help" his wife have a baby. We'll see how many people here disagree with me if that ever happens.
