Always kind of thought it but never realized exactly how much this is just an extended music video.

There's maybe 12 lines of dialogue in this entire episode.

81 minutes or so for the runtime.

20 minutes of that is montages, near the end the montages begin to incorporate footage from the actual movie Rocky IV.

A shocking lack of Stu Nahan.

You did.

Rocky Balboa was surprisingly good. His speech in the street to his kid was one of the best scenes in the entire series.

Rocky Balboa was a love letter to all Rocky fans. Especially to those of us who have voluntarily watched Rocky V on multiple occasions.

They are all really well written. I think Rocky Balboa worked well partially because so much time had passed. It was a great end to the series.

It's not the end though. The next one is Rocky training Apollo's kid which I don't think is bad honestly.

I write this in all sincerity. I would put the first three Rocky films right up there with any trilogy in movie history.

That may not be as far out as you think, Matches. The first two fit together incredibly well narrative-wise and the Rocky III should have been the last film as it bookends the story arc and characters.

Oh well.

Definitely have the first three Star Wars before it. It is great though.

Star Wars wins on the trilogy aspect IMHO. Rocky 3 was great and culturally aware at the time. Who didn't hate Clubber Lang at that time and fear him. Apollo was never a true foil, they went over the top with Drago being a foil but Mr T nailed it. The hard part with the rocky movies is the boxing. Ugh it is nothing like a real fight.

As a kid, Rocky III was my favorite. But, as I've gotten older, that one hasn't aged well and is my least favorite of the first 4. I never saw 5. I enjoyed Rocky Balboa very much.

It wasn't even worth a second watch. Just awful.

Ed rocky 3 is cheesy no doubt, cliche etc but it was good for its time. I still see it on replay often. Maybe the most of all the rocky movies. It was fun.

I love all the Rocky movies, even 5 has some good moments imo.

But Rocky IV will probably always be my personal favorite because of the age I was when it came out. I remember begging my mom to take me to the theater to see it. It was just perfect. I still love watching it to this day.

Indiana Jones was a pretty solid trilogy.

First was classic, second had classic moments but wasn't my favorite, third was a solid movie.

It's all treadmill music. My spotify playlist, "running", was initially composed of Rocky greatest hits. My office boombox has a cassette tape in it (unused in at least 10 years) of The Rocky Story- The Original Soundtrack Songs from the Rocky Movies.

Sad thing is it wasn't a trilogy.

"rocky v" has a promising beginning and some nostalgic, touching scenes early on. it just loses its way and becomes cartoonishly stupid at the end.

you have to love the line "touch me, i'll sue" though.

Other than the shower scene where he calls Adrian, Mick it was garbage.

Even the part about them losing the money was so incredibly stupid and far fetched (as if the drunken brother in law has power of attorney over the estate)

It's a bad movie no doubt. But just like all the other Rocky flicks there is some clever writing by Stallone. Think back to the scene near the end when Tommy Gunn shows up at the bar to challenge Rocky. Before stepping outside, two of Balboa's overweight friends ask if he needs help and Rock responds with, "this ain't no pie eatin contest." That line was great. Not as good as some other dialogue from the earlier films, but man I thought it was hilarious.

A one liner joke from the end of the movie is your case, so I rest mine.

Also, why THE FUCK, was Tommy and that red haired whore driving with the top down in FUCKING PHILADELPHIA in December.

Cold enough for fur coats, but the top is down

Come on, Sly

No one can make a case for it being a good movie, but Stallone can write some good stuff.

I won't stand for the badmouthing of Stallone or Arnold the movie stars. That's my childhood. As for having the top down, Tommy Gunn was living by his own rules at that point. If he wants the top down then the top is down. The redhead wasn't going to question it. Tommy was the gravy train and you don't question the gravy train. If we're going the route of how, how did Lane Meyer get into Dodger Stadium with the French girl. I mean, they didn't even get real drugs there but he pulled that stunt off.

And before you or anyone asks, Buddy Revell parked in front of the school because he could. Are you going to tell him to move it? Dude was knocking full grown men as a high-schooler.
