Okay. I'll believe that Kyle Schwarber will never be anything close to Babe Ruth.

If you simply asked Cubs fans if they agree with you and this statement, I'm guessing every single one on this message board would agree.

Do you see how crazy you are?

Cool

My opinion is he's a kid with a supposedly big bat but no position. Hope he works out.

What's crazy is that you want to draw some meaning out of such a ridiculous statement without actually embracing it.

The trade is being incorrectly parroted as Russell for a half-season of Shark.

The appeal of Shark was his 1.5 years of team control at an affordable salary. Shark's 2014 salary was $5.345M and the season was already half over so the A's only had to pay a little over $2.5M for the remaining season. As we see with his agreement with the White Sox, he will earn $9.8M which is roughly half his market value.

The A's traded Russell and Ynoa for a half-season of Samardzija, Semien, Bassit, Phegley and Ravelo.

The half-season in a vacuum doesn't seem like much but near the trade deadline prices are greatly elevated compared to the offseason.

This above doesn't even factor that Shark will be pitching for the Cubs next year anyways after they sign him. So this whole thread is pretty pointless.

I think it's pretty obvious the Cubs are leaking their info to drive up Kyle's "worth" to them. He's not going to be a Cub for very long.

No no, see when Beane does it it's a tactic to fuck with the Cubs. When the Cubs do it, they actually 100% mean it.

That's an interesting take. I could see that happening.

So does Schwarber suck and the Cubs are just leaking bullshit to dump him or is a Cubs exec calling him "Babe Fuckin' Ruth" evidence that he's really, really good? I wish Cub fans could pick a lane.

How about the fact that "Cubs fans" don't need to have a consensus opinion.

By definition there must be a consensus opinion. I'm just trying to figure out what it is.

JORR still knows a ton about baseball.

The thing is, he applies anything said by media or baseball executives to Cub fans. If they say they're Sox fans, he doens't believe them. He says they're Cub fans, and applies their thoughts to the fanbase.

Cubs executive said Schwarber is Babe Ruth....Cub fans think Schwarber is Babe Ruth

Tim Wilken said Hayden Simpson was like Lincecum to justify his horrible draft pick....Cub fans think Simpson is Lincecum

Etc, etc

So going forward, just know that if you quote a radio personality or baseball executive, there is a good chance JORR will apply it to most Cub fans.

The "consensus" probably have little to no idea who he is right now.

But JORR clearly does. Schwarber occupying a LOT of real estate in the JORR mind.

Anyone and everyone has access to raw baseball information. JORR may have more of it stored in his memory than other fans, even if those other fans are just as hardcore.

But does he take that knowledge and know how to apply it to a baseball discussion with people that may not interpret the information the same as himself? Absolutely not.

And that skill is how I determine if someone "knows" baseball. JORR does not know baseball. He can shit on everyone else's thoughts or opinions, but has absolutely none of his own. When pressured ... "I don't know how good he will be, but he won't be the greatest baseball player that ever lived."

Way to step out, you hack.

It prevents me from looking ridiculous by comparing Brett JacKson to Mike Trout.

I don't even really have an opinion on it. I'm glad he is a highly touted prospect. I really really WANT him to be really good, and I realize that's possible but not expected. And I also realize it's possible he's a complete bust. Who cares what I predict? That doesn't matter one bit. And doesn't change my excitement level.

At least I can come out and own that one. I was extremely wrong. But 'body of work' and all of that.

Instead, you look ridiculous by claiming everyone is wrong about every player. You have no idea, and you know it, so you refuse to even make educated guesses. But for someone that strongly feels everyone else is wrong, you must be able to predict at least a close range of statistics for Russell or Bryant in their first year. No one is asking you to predict their careers. Just one year.

Go on.

I have real concerns for all of White Sox fandom.

It's only mid-March and every single White Sox fan in the world has completely lost their minds at the thought that the Cubs have some potentially good players. I don't think they can keep this stress-level pegged for an entire season.

And, God forbid if Javy Baez actually does something good this year, no White Sox fan's heart may survive it.

This, and I predict D.Robertson and shark will be busts. Could be a really long season for White Sox fans.

Check out his comment from before about Beane being the best GM in baseball:

Quote:
He certainly has been. But I think his desperation to win the big prize last season caused him to make a couple huge mistakes and now he seems to have gone off the deep end.
