Mr. T is heading to cable television. While he will not be joining an aged version of The A-team, he will be putting together a brand new home improvement show over at DIY Network that has what may be the best name ever. Mr. T’s upcoming DIY Network series is rolling with the title I Pity The Tool. The title is a take on a famous Mr. T line from Rocky III, as well as a TV Land series starring the actor.

If you’ve taken a second to process the witty nature of the I Pity The Tool title, the basic concept behind the series is even more amusing. In I Pity The Tool, Mr. T will “smash” older spaces and then will remodel homes for families in the aftermath. The actor cites his skills as a demolition man prior to acting as the reason for signing on with DIY Network.
Before I worked in show business, I worked in the demolition business. And even after I made it in Hollywood, I kept on building things.

Although Mr. T says he is interested in building things, the quote doesn’t really reassure us that the actor has a specific skill set when it comes to redoing homes. Luckily, DIY Network has assigned the man an entire team to help out with the renovations. In addition, Tiffany Brooks, an HGTV Design Star winner and an interior designer, will also lend a helping hand to the projects each week.

The show is being produced by the Michael Group, and just nabbed a straight-to-series order on the DIY Network. If it sounds like something you are interested in, you should be able to catch new episodes before 2015 ends, although the network has not assigned a particular premiere date, yet.

DIY Network often airs programs featuring celebrities who are past their prime. Chief among these is The Vanilla Ice Project, which follows Vanilla Ice as he flips houses. Daryl Hall, Run DMC’s Rev Run and William Shatner also have shows on the network.

Among such competition, I have no idea if Mr. T’s show will catch on, but at the very least, I’m perfectly alright with I Pity The Tool becoming a real thing in popular culture. We’ll let you know as soon as the DIY Network series has a premiere date.

Yeah, but it is the actual title of his show. I met Mr. T a long time ago. He was very cordial
while signing autographs for children at Randhurst Mall. He took a picture with my kids.

It's amazing the mileage he's gotten from one character.

These DIY shows are definitely a guilty pleasure of mine so I'm sure I'll check it out.
