Nope. I was hopeful Baez would be good but never thought the world of him and not surprised he ended up being a bust.

Ok, me too.

That is not all Steve said and I wouldnt want Steve representing me or other Cub fans.

But if Steve speaks for you, that's cool. I think everyone should speak for themselves.

Well being honest I certainly have higher hopes for Baez than say Alcantra. It would be disappointing if he's a 250 K/year player.

In 2012 Bryant and Russell were the true hopes for Cubbie greatness.

He's certainly headed that way. They won't let him play long enough to do that though. He'll be sent down long before he approaches that territory.

Sure he did.

He said good dolphin had a dumb post in 2012 because Cubs fans are depending on Bryant and Russell. In 2012, one was with another team and the other one was either in high school or college depending on who you talk to.

Steve's an idiot. You don't have to go as far back to 2012 to find a dumb good dolphin post.

Baez is toast, but this Soler guy looks like he might be a monster.

His point was that gd's post was dumb because most Cubs fans never got too excited over Baez and that Byrant and Russell are the kind of prospects that Cubs fans have wet dreams about.

 Sure.

Around 60th in 2012.
Around 20th in 2013.
Around 5th in 2014.

I bet most Cubs fans thought he wouldn't do anything!

What did Steve say that you didn't agree with?

The part where he says "Most Cub fans..."

Steve doesnt have access to most Cub fans because he lives in a bubble. Ive done it myself (usually responding to someone who already lumped Cubs fan together) but no one should think they speak for the fanbase.

But aside from that, Im not depending on Bryant and Russell. I hope they're good, if they're not, then next man up

Also, Im certainly not expecting much from Albert Almora who has done absolutely nothing to warrant any excitement to this point. Certainly not more than a guy like Baez who was murdering minor league pitching.

There was always a hesitation with many on Baez that a lot of fans dont have with Bryant and Soler, but there was also excitement about Baez.

Speaking for an entire fan base is easy and fun. I do it all the time.

All Blues fans deserve to die.

See? Easy.

It's been like 4 years since that rivalry mattered. Time to move on.

Maybe...if you get a note from each and every Blues fan on the planet, saying it's ok to speak for them, then Ill reconsider. Until then, take a hike you elitist hockey fan scumbag.

All this commotion over little old me?

Are there Cubs fans saying there wasn't excitement over Baez with a straight face? I distinctly remember Bryant sized hand wringing over when he was going to be brought up.

Cubs fans were pretty excited about Baez when he was in AA because he was hitting HR's like Bryant is now. Then he got to AAA last year and everyone realized the guy can't hit a curve ball and Cubs fans started to temper their excitement. It looked like he was able to make some adjustments at AAA which got him called up to MLB. Cubs fans were excited to see if he could keep it together but, ultimately, it was proven that he could not hit MLB pitching.

Right now, I would say Cubs fans would be happy if he could put up Darwin Barney type numbers.

I believe them, just like there were no White Sox fans excited about Gordon Beckham.

That is my recollection and what I always said back then is now coming true. SOME Cub fans will be revisionist and act like he was no big deal if he or any of these guys tank.

Most Cub fans were very excited when he was brought up. Most now see him as most likely to be the bust.

Valuable enough for Dave Martinez to bang his wife
