I like about half the songs.

Everytime I hear Sunshine of Your Love I think of when Mike Ogulnick sang it and I laugh. I hated him on the radio but loved what you guys said about him here.

My god, just reading that list is annoying.

Why do we still treat classic rock like it was the greatest thing ever? It's not and it never was.


And looks very LOOP-esque with the playing of the most popular songs by the bands.

If these bands are so great, trust their whole catalog.

"My Sharona" is one of my favorite songs ever. Great beat and killer guitar solo. Never tire of it.

The rest of those songs are played to death and need not hear them again.

Heard somewhere that if you are able to play the guitar solo in My Sharona, you can play any other solo. Agree , its a great song and ironically not played enough on classic rock stations. Gotta save room for " Dream On" I guess.

Classic rock is pretty great. That's why we've gone back and called it "classic." And the Drive was better about deep cuts years ago before consultants turned the Drive, the Loop, WLS-FM, and K-Hits into more or less the same station.

I'm interested to hear where the show goes. It needs more Mac.

When I'm 55 I'm sure Green Day and Blink 182 will have "Classic Rock hits" too.

It's a haven for those who finally get too old to listen to what the kids are listening too, or in the case of some Classic Rock listeners, "all that rap music".

A lot of it depends on when you were born, I have never nor will ever understand why people have to be so judgemental when it comes to music and what others may or may not like.

Spaulding I like a lot of those songs also, don't listen to them every day, but like them.

I mean, I get that you have to play popular songs on Top 40 radio.

But when you've deemed these musicians classic, arent they good enough to play more than just the singles?

I dont mean to say Rock of the 60's and 70's is no good but its not what we make it out to be.

Yes, I remember The Drive did classic rock in a tolerable way. Seems they now just another Loop

Not even close to the degree that "Dream On" and "Strawberry Fields" get played.

Its not even that

I like a lot of those bands. Thin Lizzy has songs other than BABIT. Same goes for The Kinks with Lola and many others on the list.

Its the repetitive nature of it.

Think of how weird that is though. Top 40 radio? Some of these songs are 50 years old. It would be like me and Mac listening to "Mairzy Doats" when we were 16 or 17.

But it was true of Oldies stations too. Im sure Bill Haley and the Comets made more than one song.

Just listen to "Breakfast with the Beatles" for a way to run an excellent radio show. Alternative covers of Beatle hits,little played Beatles songs are all covered mixed in with some on topic interviews.

Dear Sweet Baby Mohammed yes.

Years ago out of nowhere the Drive (albeit about 11 at night) drops the live version of Joni Mitchell's "Coyote" ... I'd readily believe that it'd never been on radio before ... probably hasn't since then either.

The Drive was special but as CH says, it's all safe now, like a post-flu diet ... white rice, saltines, and flat 7-Up.

That all said, I'm thoroughly amused by those giving Mac shit, along with the usual wave of sycophants jumping and cheering like little girls, for having a gig and commensurate paycheck that pretty much anyone here or abroad would cheerfully blow the nearest AIDS patient to get.
