Why wouldn't ESPN use this as fuel to fire (no pun intended) Dan? WSCR is their BIGgest compeTITion. whY not try to get him removed from the station.

They hardly have guests now. He may have to take a forced vacation but he's going to be back any everyone is going to forget this happened by next week. If that wildebeest stuff comes out though...

Not saying he's on Mt Rushmore of ESPN, but word travels fast. If it gets up the chain to the Wilbons of the world, Bernsie will be in huge trouble.

So, you're saying Dan shouldn't have called all the women in the WNBA who aren't that Della Donna girl wildebeests and said he wanted to breed Brittney Griner because all these Deadspin people might object?

I don't believe this. Do you have a link to the topic on the day it was said. Otherwise, I would not believe for a second that Dan Bernstein at 670 the Score in Chicago advocated breeding African American basketball players.

I view the situation like the ending of Law Abiding Citizen where Jaime Foxx tries to get Gerard Butler to "stand up for those principles you're always preaching about" and not blow up city hall. Gerard Butler refuses and unwittingly blows himself up. In his final moments he thinks about his dead daughter. Now I know we all learned today that Dan doesn't have a daughter, but it's pretty fitting.

It's no where near the most offensive thing he's said. I was expecting some of his more racist comments or racist insinuations to cause his eventual downfall.

Don't disagree, but I think it's because she's considered a peer in sports media (though Dan has, for a while, not entertained this idea). That's what makes it different than a Fox News host or even Megan Glaros. Erin Andrews stuff was similar but she's a high-profile national target, not as much of a colleague like a CSN sideline reporter.

He's also thought that local TV sports people are useless, but if he tweeted that he only sees Ryan Baker as 'some black guy who probably played basketball' he'd be catching similar flack, and more than the stuff about Derrick Rose.

If women groups get involved it would be put the pressure on. Like if they were to protest outside the Score's building. Fucking Rongey would be hitting on them as they picket in a circle. "WE"RE NOT OBJECTS. FIRE DAN BERNSTEIN."

Ranger: Yeah, what Bernstein said was disgusting. Hey, can I get your number?

Picketer: Only if you pick up a sign and chant with us?

Ranger: WE"RE NOT OBJECTS. FIRE DAN BERNSTEIN.

Bernsein: What the fuck, Ranger?

Ranger: Sorry, dude.

They had 2 yesterday, undoubtedly reading my board post.

I was trying to think who would even boycott, do they even have women on the station? Just Peggy Kusinski, and Spiegs already creeped her out of the station if I recall.

Man, people must really, really not like Dan. The amount of people coming out of the woodwork to hold Dan's feet to the fire for a tossed off tweet about a sideline reporter's boobs is ridiculous.

It absolutely is ridiculous. But he brought it on himself. When you try to make life miserable for gay people and then get caught soliciting sex in an airport bathroom, people will make sport of you. When you position yourself as a defender of women so indefatigable that you're even defending them from things they don't need to be defended from (say, for instance, showing their legs while ice skating), and then get caught saying "who cares if she can't talk, I like her big titties," people will make sport of you.

ding ding ding

Dan's a person of essentially average intelligence who's built The Thinking Fan's Show on little more than the judicious use of buzzwords. This is fine when you're name-dropping VORP and UZR, because nobody's going to call in and make you show your work, but when you start casually tossing around phrases like "rape culture," there's a reasonable expectation that you're not going to refer to WNBA players as wildebeests, or turn into a bug-eyed cartoon wolf every time Megan Glaros wears a low-cut top. It is kind of funny that of all the times Dan's played dress-up--doctor, lawyer, PR expert, SVU detective--it's his performance as a humanities major that's getting him in the most trouble.

THIS is what Bernstein will apologize for: harming his bosses and the CBS #brand

I almost think this is a bit.

Because it might bring in more listeners to B&B expecting that "shock jock" angle

Then they would hear Berstein and his wimpy whinny voice and go back to AC/DC TNT on the drive.

I'm really hoping this is the route he goes. It'll just make people rage even more. I can't get by a radio right now which sucks because this is must listen radio coming up.
