Come on SH, I thought you were a business guy. Your love for North has blinded you. In your mind he is still relevant, making big bucks and ready to replace Bernstein...none of which are true. Here's another fact to consider: even at the height of his so called popularity North never approached the ratings B&B have attained. "And it isn't close."

I don't listen to North anymore & his relevance is no where close to what it once was. I'm not talking about the content or quality of his show. The fact is, North does morning drive on a national syndicated radio station owned by Fox who has about 340 affiliates who PAY FOX to air their radio content. They are in business because they have 340 affiliates who have listeners & who are willing to pay them. They sell ad time because they have listeners. Its no different than The Score with CBS Sports Radio...except the FSR lineup is better with Dan Patrick & Jay Mohr.

They pay for Patrick, not Nort.

And stop with your business lessons. You have demonstrated over the years that you know nothing about the radio business.

The thing about this incarnation of North and others like it is it is just background noise. Not appointment listening at all. The only time I listen to national sports radio is when the score stream has to go to CBS radio. There are likable guys on it and I listen passively but I could not even tell you one of the guys names. Maybe Ferell.

I don't have a clue as to his total number of listeners. If you think that's a high number then great. However, It has nothing to do with North. I'm sure Finji would draw similar numbers on that network. And I'm sure Norths compensation reflects that. Woo-hoo.

I have no idea how many listeners FSR has nationwide. It can be difficult finding ratings for syndicated shows.

Enjoy the show, Scorehead, but stop pretending like he has some huge audience. Nobody is listening.

Again, I have no idea how many listeners they have or what the ratings are, but they have enough affiliate stations willing to pay for their content & to stay in business & on the air. That is all.

THEY. AREN'T. PAYING. FOR. NORT.

They are running out of people to host these shows that get no ratings. Nort will take anything at this point.

Most of the FSR affiliates are similar to The Score in that they may have some local shows on during parts of the day & only air certain FSR shows. In other words, The Scores ratings aren't really CBS Sports Radios ratings. This is what makes determining the ratings so difficult. You would have to drill down to the individual show level at each affiliate to get an accurate read.

Nort probably doesn't have enough billboards in Denver.

I have pretty limited exposure to Cornhuskers. I will not let the Ricketts family taint my opinion (and yes, I said taint). The people in Lincoln were welcoming. I have seen some seediness in Iowa but the people are generally good. Indiana has the seediness without the good. So:

1. Nebraska
2. Iowa
3. Indiana

I know it will surprise all but I would rank Wisconsin above them all. Even the bad Wisconsinites are more like bumbling rustics than bad people.

so as a successful man of business you can proclaim North a popular success compared to Bernstein based on the fact that he is still on the air? He must be because somebody is paying for ads...we don't need no stinking ratings. :drunken:

Scorehead, just concede my man. It's ok. We all suffer defeats on this board. Some more than others.

Provide a link with proof of six figures, or I will have to assume that you are just declaring something to be true, as you often do.

Even if he is making $100K, which I highly doubt, that is a lot less than Bernstein makes, and a whole hell of a lot less than Nort used to make at the Score. Surely, a business man as yourself understands that $100K isn't as successful as $800K. I'd bet that after the overhead of a home studio, he is making peanuts.

He does the show out of his basement, presumably right before shooting the next bookie priest videos. Boy, are those a hoot.

Scorehead, you are on pace to fail the most failing fail that ever failed.

I don't doubt that he could be making a low 6 figure salary. But he has no following and thus no security. He could be replaced by a lower salary intern and nobody would notice.

The ratings at FSR are tanking in every market that DB linked. I would be surprised if still has the gig in six months.

Shit's getting too real between me and Hawg Ass/SomeGuy/RPB. I'm quitting this place. You'll catch me posting about Mike North and brokered shows about farm implements over at Bend Sports Fan Message Board.

Drinky had a written statement of Friday scolding Bernstein, yet also defending Bernstein by making everybody aware that Bernstein gives to women's charities. Which probably isn't true.

Yet drinky has heard the sexist stuff from Bernstein before. He's laughed at it. Drinky himself is a sexist that has said a lot of sexist things through the years. So has Boers.

Douchebag, I don't like Mike North. I just wanted to point out that the sports radio world doesn't revolve around Chicago and NYC. There's many many people around the country who listen to bad sports thoughts.

Here is the complete list of Fox Sports Radio affiliate stations in the US. From memory, its about 340 or so.

North isn't actually on all those stations during morning drive, though. Many of them are like the Score, combining local programming with the national. For instance, the Detroit station WDFN has Matt Shepard http://www.iheart.com/live/wdfn-1129/ and the LA station KLAC is airing Dan Patrick http://www.iheart.com/live/am-570-la-sports-189/. So yes, Fox Sports Radio has hundreds of affiliates, but how many actually air Mike North in morning drive?
