This is the only place Sox fans post....so I will make my Steve Stone like observation after today's game.

The thread is about Boras and him dealing with Theo, specifically about Bryant....who from MY SOURCES...isnt ready!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Yes, you heard it , NOT READY.

My old crusty guy down there wants him in the minors for 2 months. Says he strikes out too much still and the defense isnt good.

I dint expect the defense to be good, but the 12 days he can stay down there. Theo didnt make the rules.

Are you saying he's going to be READY after twelve days in Iowa? He's a ballplayer not a presidential candidate.

Bryant is so good at baseball, that even tough he is not ready for baseball now, he will absolutely be ready for baseball after a few days in Des Moines.

The fact that you expect anybody to believe this bigfan is beyond stupidity.

No, I am not saying that.

I am saying I would like to start the Strikeout at MLB level as soon as possible. I expect him to have a low BA and some good HR's. Want him to see his forst 100 AB's, but I am also aware how smart it is to leave him at AAA for 12 games, "The Pleasure exceeds the Pressure" in the long run.

Anyone just watch Dan O'Dowd on MLB Network talk about Bryant and his defense? He said if they (The Rockies) drafted him they would have immediately moved him to right field. Then they showed defensive clips of Bryant and Troy Glaus to show how much better Glaus' feet and arm action were. Not sure why the Cubs keep messing around with him at third base. Just move him to the outfield and be done with it.

I think they're going to do that.

Here is where I'll fire on the Cubs "organization". Bryant's defensive challenges at 3B cannot be a new discovery. He has already had 2 seasons in the minors and college baseball before that. His move to the OF should have happened already.

I still do not think Bryant starting the season in the minors will impact their ability to win the WS this year...I'm fine with the economic decision....I just think they should have moved his position earlier.

Agreed. Kaiser was referencing how they detailed this on MLB network last week. They were showing how Glaus (the most common comparison) was much better at 3b right after being drafted and he should have been moved right away.

Hope they dont make the same mistake with Schwarber

It'll all be forgotten very soon from now, until maybe 2020 when Boras keeps reminding Bryant about it.

But after the third World Series, Bryant won't want to go anywhere. The Cubs will be bringing in plenty of revenue from the new, sixth jumbotron that was completed in 2019....sitting above the old scoreboard. Can't block any views from up there!

Eclipse Gum Field will never have looked better.

It will all be forgotten 4 years from now when they sign him to a new contract that makes it ridiculous that they sat him to start this season.

It is not rocket science they stuck it to Boras. And they maybe help/hope he dumps Boras before the big time money needs to be discussed.

Boras guys don't really do that. He will take the most money when the day comes. None of this will matter.

For the love of God...he's only in the minors for what, 12 days? If Boros was smart he would have told Chris to shut up about the 12 days. This situation has been blown out of proportion.

North, either on purpose or because he didn't know any better, would refer to those strikeouts as the "golden shower." He did this on multiple occasions. I kid you not.

Realistically though, I think it won't matter, but if I'm Bryant, when they talk contract extension, I'm telling them they better ignore the extra year of control they have with the numbers they present.

I would be a total bitch and negotiate a contract, reach a final number then at the last minute demand 12 games worth of 2015 MLB pay be added to the number as a signing bonus.

I think one thing nobody is considering is that the steroid days when guys were as good or better at age 38 as they were at 28 appear to be pretty much over. Maybe you don't want to re-sign Bryant or anyone that's 30+ years old and is going to be looking for big dollars and many years.

Well that would be an argument to send him to the minors for 3 weeks.

I still don't think it's a good idea. A fifth or sixth of a season right now may be worth more than a full season in 2021. I mean, if you really care about winning. And I would bet that he isn't going to pop right up on the twelfth day. They'd really be slapping him in the face if they did that. You won't see him in the big leagues before May 1.

Bryant said a few things that a young star shouldnt say. He sounded like a whiney entitled brat and a bad teammate. For the love of God...its 12 fucking days! He'll be up in a couple of weeks. If Boros doesnt like the rule that the players and union collectivly bargained, then change it.

I think he sounded like a guy who tore the cover of the ball pretty much all spring and still can't break camp with the big league club.

Since Spring stats were kept, this is the first time in MLB history that the leader of the Cactus and/or Grapefruit league in HRs will not be on the Opening Day roster. Say what you want, but this is fairly significant.
