i thought this ended strongly after a few weaker episodes. the weakest, hands down, was connie. rosie was pretty weak too, and i still didn't care for her one iota. connie's just felt strained. and even down to the song her dad wrote (i doubt it would've sounded like that, since we're talking it was recorded in the 90's sometime), it didn't work for me.
the final episode was one of the strongest. i really like the kid, and you can finally really relate to the struggle of a character who's pretty much an innocent. i like that it ended with a touch of warmth from hugo, that maybe there's hope for him. and i thought the sentencing was fair.
i did think things would've gotten more out of control. i suppose this is toned down for regular network. overall, i'd give it a pass because i did think it was always intriguing. i wanted to find out what happened ultimately. but there were some things left to be desired, and some of the other ways of closure fit a little too snugly or just left me unmoved.
some great performances too. quinto's best efforts were more in the first episodes than the final few. but he still did a damn fine job. it looks like this show will most likely be forgotten rather quickly. there was little hype in the final weeks for the finale, and it got mixed reviews from a lot of critics. plus, it getting moved to the 9 pm slot must've been because it was getting low ratings.
