Planning a European excursion this June/July for two weeks with a buddy of mine.

Plan is to fly into Dublin, then cattle herd flight to Brussels and have last city be Prague. So from Brussels we're trying to decipher through what cities we should visit while working our way to Prague.
Two weeks is like the bare minim to explore but that's the plan.

Suggestions? Cities that are overrated & we should skip?

It is not that far apart. Spend more than two days in Prague. Cheap and it is good beer, food and scene. I would want to go to Cologne but a southerly route may be better if not more historic. Luxembourg, and skirt Switzerland and Germany on the way popping in and out here and there. Stuttgart if your a car guy and Nuremberg.

I don't know how many days you're planning to spend in Dublin but it is over-rated (& I'm Irish fwiw). Western Ireland is awesome though. In fact I'd suggest flying into Shannon if you haven't already booked a flight and then fly out of Dublin to Brussels. That way you can check out the country and still hit the pubs in Dublin for a night.

I've never been to Europe, but if I was planning a trip I would start by flying into Amsterdam. My next stop would be Amsterdam. If I had time for another city I would visit Amsterdam assuming its close to Amsterdam.

I got dumped by my GF of 4 years. We had a vacation to Dominican planned in June. So I had to cancel it and the refundable money is going to this.

Unlucky.

Dublin was awesome. We spent our first two nights there and our last night there.

There are at least 10 attractions worth visiting there.

We spend the rest of the week driving around though.

Brussels to Bruge- beautiful canal city with a lot of history and well maintained architecture. really fun party hostel there if you are backpacking and the area makes some great beer

Bruge to Amsterdam- I'm not a smokey guy but there is plenty of other things to see and a definite must stop since you are in the area

Amsterdam to Baden Baden- hike the black forest and enjoy some hot springs baths

Baden Baden to Munich- Bavaria at its finest, if it weren't for war, this is what you think of when you think of Germany

Munich to Salzburg- Sound of Music tour is about the easiest of pickings for an American trying to get laid in Europe, great beer hall

Salzburg to Vienna- I'm not a big Vienna guy but other people rave about it

Vienna to Prague- U Flecku for dinner and boozing on the last stage of your trip

I could give you a northern itinerary if that is what you prefer.

Honestly, forget Ireland. You are wasting your time. It is beautiful and comfortable but it is remote so it is taking up a chunk of your trip. There is so much more to see of significance on the mainland.

Yeah. You pay double for them though but it is well worth it. I adjusted to being on the other side of the road in about 6 hours.

Also, make sure that comprehensive insurance is included. That is a must there. We luckily avoided issues but it was still worth it and I deny it every time back here.

This actually makes sense. We did 9 days in Ireland and didn't even get to everything we wanted.

If you are going to go to Ireland it may be in your best interest to just stay there the whole time.

When you come over for dinner, I will teach you. I have two vehicles with a manual transmission.

Brussels to Bruge- short train ride for your first trip on the mainland, small city that really gives you a feel that you are in Europe

Brugge to Amsterdam- Amstel brewery, red light district, ann frank and The Cricket for smoking up

Amsterdam to Berlin- really interesting city as it has a lot of WW II and cold war history while at the same time being completely modern and possibly the most liberal place on the continent

Berlin to Prague- see the bridge and the castle, eat some street crepes

I would really recommend flying in to Paris instead of Brussels and starting the whole thing from there. Not all that much to see in Brussels besides taking a picture of yourself pretending to piss in front of the Mannequin Piss and grabbing a Belgium waffle

Definitely get to Amsterdam. I spent 2 days there a couple years ago and it is an amazing place. I also spend severals at different locations in Germany. See some of the WWII history and tour a concentration camp if possible.
