If the refs are the reason you lost this game, they are the reason you won the last game.

Inconsistant bad calls both ways.

but they let them play in the last 2 minutes, its what should be expected.

Duke won because of their unreal defense, their depth and some crazy good shots down the stretch. But the reffing was bad. The finger call, and out of bounds miss both had huge implications. He's not even talking about that though, he's complaining about the hand checking. To have such a discrepancy in the second half is a little curious. Wisconsin defended like they always do and they were in the double bonus right away. After only 2 fouls in the first half. He probably should shut up, though.

This is the suspect part

@RobHernandezWSJ: To answer question, many have: When UW went up 9 points w/13:25 left, it had four fouls and Duke 2 in 2nd half. It ended 13-6. ...

The Badgers didn't win the last game because of officials and didn't lose tonight because of them. Their inability to stop the dribble penetration from Duke's guards in the 2nd half killed them in my opinion.

Do you think Hayes meant to foul with 30 some seconds left? Coach Ryan didn't say whether he called for that, only to say that he went for the steal.

I would be shocked if Bo told him to foul, there was like a 14 second difference in the clocks.

As a Badger fan, it really disappoints me to read all of the comments and subtle comments about the officiating. Not the way to go out even if those are your feelings.

Neither the KY/WI nor the championship matchup had an outcome that was affected by the terrible officiating.

That said, what's also true is that the games themselves were unnecessarily sullied by the terrible officiating.

There is something incredibly enjoyable about hearing Bo Ryan blame the refs after this loss. Wisconsin is the team that benefits the most from major foul differentials especially at home and Bo Ryan is the master at intimidating refs especially at home for the benefit of his team. If there was one guy who I would have loved to have his potential crowning achievement ripped away from by, in his opinion, the refs, it would be Bo Ryan.

I'm sure the rest of the Big Ten fans are feeling so sorry for poor old Bo today.

It's basketball. The refs can direct the game by calling or not calling the game. It's exactly why I don't like it.

No rooting interest in either team...just glad it's over.

True, but I feel like there is a more obvious effect in college basketball. I think it's the hardest of all sports to call evenly.

Krazooski called out the refs in his halftime interview, right? It was a nice passive aggresive shot. "They were able to defend us without fouling" or something to that effect

I'll give Ryan a pass because it is uncharacteristic of him

Yup. He would never be antagonistic towards the refs!

I'm sure the refs were watching on tv.

The guy has been a great coach for a long time. Duke was in the double bonus early in the 2nd half but Okafor was also in foul trouble
early in the 2nd half as well. The most egregious missed call was the ball that was tipped out. They looked at it on video and it was
obvious it went off Duke and they still gave them the ball. That was really the only call that had me up in arms and continued to turn
the tide. Overall it was a very good game.

You think they didnt hear it from him all throughout the first half? Use your brain.

It was a funny line about the refs in the interview. Im not criticizing your Polish King, chill out.

jockeying for supremacy with the refs is a coaching skill and should be admired. As Rick points out, Ryan is a master as well.

Feel that refs in hoop almost feel like they need to keep games close and when a team goes on a run, they seem to give that team many calls.

I understand you can miss calls, but in that Kentucky game, when Lyles slapped Josh Gasser? Its clear on the replay and the refs sat in front of the replay and said it was an ordinary basketball play? Just an example of refs callinf or not calling as they see fit.

There is no comparison to the impact refs have in basketball to other sports. It's not even close.

Many love the game...that's fine...just not me.

Football is close, and as Hawk Harrelson has expertly pointed out, so can umpires.

Just like in those sports, as long as they call it the same way both ways it is fine.

Soccer blows most sports away in ref influence because a ref can basically give or take a goal away in a 0-0 game or make you play the rest of a game with one less person on the field than the other team.
