I watched this on abc tonight. i think it was made a while ago, but they remastered it.

so basically, im not religious so this is my take, this is about a gang war where the members are on lsd and the rules are eye-for-an-eye, i kill your baby you kill mine?

way too much death and violence for my liking though. i have never seen a show where so many innocent children were murdered.

and im not so sure about this moses guy doing evil things in the name of his god... isnt that a bad lesson to teach?

it made me more aware of what isreal is and how Christianity effects our modern life- the same way it did back when this story took place.

through the beating and raping of their women, and the killing of their children, these jews were so pwned that they made up a fictional story to give their remaining people a belief to hold onto. basically, these people are magnitudes more unfortunate then the africans who became enslaved to colonial english settlers, because comparatively the africans freed themselves in much shorter time.

the biggest difference is though we didnt section off a portion of america and put all the black people there, despite the wishes of many. thats exactly what they did with isreal though, and combine that with the full support of the greatest western superpower its easy to see why there is so much fucked up shit in the middle east.

thats how im getting it though. i never studied the middle east stuff much and certainly wasnt taught anything in school growing up. the more i learn though its clear i wasnt told the truth about the few things i was told. if you ask me, the people of isreal just need to leave. not because they should, but because its like having your hands in boiling water. doesnt really matter why theyre boiling at this point, the best move is to get them the fuck out of the water.

"The Ten Commandments" is one of the few old movies that continue to air on broadcast TV. While many of these flicks have moved over to cable and satellite in recent years, this 1956 Cecil B. DeMille epic is one of the few holiday traditions that remains. I'm old enough to remember when ABC aired this biblical epic on Easter Sunday night, but in recent years, they've moved this annual film to the Saturday night before the holiday. Now available in HD, I watched bits & pieces of it over the weekend and it looks like it has withstood the test of time.

i thought it was well done too (although about 5 hours too long), but what strikes me is the lessons it teaches. its hardly a sunday school program at all... its like just because there is no cussing or nudity and it can legally be shown on air, that makes its a G rated flick for your kids to learn from.

in fact, it sends messages like "if you get harmed by a fellow man, do the same harm back to him 2x worse"

and "you can pretty much do whatever you want, so long as you tell others it is in the name of the christian lord"

and "if you walk up a mountain and stay there for 45 days you will eventually hallucinate enough to see and talk to god" which is true because of the thin air, but is it something children really need to know?

it just reaffirms my belief that christianity is one of the most evil religions out there. christians themselves are somewhat harmless, but thats only because they interpret their own religion vastly different then what it actually means.

It's actually a 3 hour, 39 minute feature film, but stretched out to 4 hours, 44 minutes for ABC, that wasn't cheap to make by 1956 standards. This epic movie cost about $13.5 million to make, according to IMDB.com.

I love this movie but does it get a little bit too "religious" for anyone? We get it. God is great and if you disagree he'll drown you or kill your first born.

a movie based on the stories of Exodus in the Bible is "too religious".

yeah, if you took out all that God stuff, they might have had something there.

I don't think Jesus is in it until the sequel.

If Mel Gibson remade this movie:

Moses meets with Satan on Mt. Sinai, not God
The Egyptians would employ suicide bombers
Instead of building a golden calf, the Israelites build a golden statue of George Lincoln Rockwell

Well Shark you may be old but apparently not old enough to recall the years it was either shown on Palm Sunday or split over two nights.

It just seemed a little "preachy". I get it. Moses was a big fan of God. God was a big fan of Moses. It was a really good buddy pic without needing to pander to all the religious people out there who eat that stuff up. Some of us just believe in the separation of church and state I guess.

Maybe if they rode their bikes thru the Red Sea it would be better.

You are correct. While I'm old enough to remember when ABC ran "The Ten Commandments" as a two-night event many years ago, it hasn't happened that often.

Lily Munster looked pretty hot in that flick.
I think Bo married John Derek because he kicked Vincent Price's butt in the movie.

Yeah, Yvonne DeCarlo, best known as "Lily" from "The Munsters", looked pretty good in that movie, which featured many of the biggest names in movies back then.

So I watched this again, and I truly think it is a great movie, but there is one thing I don't get. God is willing to do all of this stuff to free the Jews. He's killing people all over the place. He is turning water into blood. He is parting seas. He is quite active. Now, this is all done to prove to the Egyptians that he is the true God and that he exists and that he should be listened to.

I assume that he does similar stuff around the time of Jesus, and he certainly wants to make sure everyone know that he exists. He is very demonstrative. He shows no remorse in proving that he is real.

This is where the question comes in. Why did he suddenly stop this? I mean, wouldn't it be really easy for him to find a big group of non-believers and do the same? He really wanted the Egyptians to understand that he exists but he doesn't care that a majority of the world currently doesn't believe in him? He could fix that in about 3 days. Come down, turn some rivers into blood, kill a few atheists with some clouds, and maybe head over to those guys from ISIS and show them who is the boss and things would get pretty peaceful I'd say. Instead, the best thing he'll do is let the Pope get on twitter? Not buying it.

I'd be in church every single Sunday if God showed up to the Super Bowl. Why doesn't he do things like that any more? We could use a booster shot.

Has anyone seen the Exodus movie? Its out for rental now. Getting horrific reviews.

I haven't seen it,but based on the reviews I'm ready to declare it the worst movie of all time.

Think about it, they already had a proven and amazing story/script. its already been proven that it can be turned into an amazing movie. The only difference is now they can also add modern special effects. Plus it has great actors like Bale and Kingsley.

So all that considered, how the fuck do you make a movie that is getting 20% on Rotten Tomato???? This movie is already made, all you had to do was polish it and you would've had a blockbuster.

He should at least appear, and clearly explain his positions on gays, the poor, and immigrants, so one of our two political parties can stop focusing all of their energy on these issues.
