The local businesses will more than make up for it when they reschedule the game and 40 thousand people are bar hoping instead of 15 thousand.

No. It's 12 days. Nothing to do with the games. From what I understood it to be.

With my idea they still get the makeup game crowd a few months later, and any additional crowd tonight.

However, they are throwing the 90% chance of rain, it is cold right now and 20 MPH winds.

So a realstic chance of it being really shitty....and speaking of SHITTY, gotta work on the Porta Potty thing still.

Yeah, there probaly is a good chance the game would be rained out, but wouldn't you want a few thousand people showing up and at least buying food/drinks/souveneirs? Seems like a no-brainer to me.

When did this cancelling games hours many hours before start time begin? It seems like this only started happening in the last few years. I can understand if some severe weather system was incoming (tornado/hurricane warnings), but a cold drizzle? C'mon now...

It probably started because teams dont want to piss off fans. Families going to the game appreciate the early heads up. Im sure most fans appreciate the early heads up.

I cant imagine why anyone would be against this

You get people down there, and about 3 beers deep, and then you call the game at 6:45. The local businesses would probably appreciate the extra business too.

There is such a thing as doing right by your customers. Id certainly appreciate it if I were going.

True. But they're not gonna cancel it at 6:45. Not gonna make people haul their asses down there only to tell them to go home. You know that. That's just low rent.

That's literally how almost every rainout works. Except for Jerry's.

Yeah, I dont know what DB is saying here. I guess he's saying The Cubs should fuck over the fans in the name of beer sales.

No it doesn't. They might not start the game on time. Then just figure they can't wait anymore after an hour or two so they bang it. But I never have heard of anybody canceling a game 15 minutes before first pitch.

Many games are called hours early. The reason the Jerry thing was different is because it wasnt going to rain that night. It was just going to be super cold so no one would have gone.

The fantasy baseball nerds can back me up, games get called early quite frequently.

douchebag is holding Ricketts to the same standard that Jerry is held to. douchebag is a good Cubs fan. I've moved him off the bad Cubs fan list.

Both times the right call was made.

Its a little bit more questionable when their is no rain in the forecast, but I support Jerry in that regard.

The only time the Cubs (Or any team for that matter) did what Douchbag wants done is when the Cardinal died.

Still off the list. You showed a way of acting like an unbiased Cub fan that rpb wishes he could emulate.
