So I watched this again, and I truly think it is a great movie, but there is one thing I don't get. God is willing to do all of this stuff to free the Jews. He's killing people all over the place. He is turning water into blood. He is parting seas. He is quite active. Now, this is all done to prove to the Egyptians that he is the true God and that he exists and that he should be listened to.

I assume that he does similar stuff around the time of Jesus, and he certainly wants to make sure everyone know that he exists. He is very demonstrative. He shows no remorse in proving that he is real.

This is where the question comes in. Why did he suddenly stop this? I mean, wouldn't it be really easy for him to find a big group of non-believers and do the same? He really wanted the Egyptians to understand that he exists but he doesn't care that a majority of the world currently doesn't believe in him? He could fix that in about 3 days. Come down, turn some rivers into blood, kill a few atheists with some clouds, and maybe head over to those guys from ISIS and show them who is the boss and things would get pretty peaceful I'd say. Instead, the best thing he'll do is let the Pope get on twitter? Not buying it.

I'd be in church every single Sunday if God showed up to the Super Bowl. Why doesn't he do things like that any more? We could use a booster shot.

He use to do these things every day back then, but then the devil kept sending his demons as humans and telling us to:

Finally, god said, Fuck it! and moved on to helping the bald eagle.

Has anyone seen the Exodus movie? Its out for rental now. Getting horrific reviews.

I haven't seen it,but based on the reviews I'm ready to declare it the worst movie of all time.

Think about it, they already had a proven and amazing story/script. its already been proven that it can be turned into an amazing movie. The only difference is now they can also add modern special effects. Plus it has great actors like Bale and Kingsley.

So all that considered, how the fuck do you make a movie that is getting 20% on Rotten Tomato???? This movie is already made, all you had to do was polish it and you would've had a blockbuster.

Watched it last night and it was HORRIBLE. It was so bad that I actually felt bad for the egyptians. Why where they all bald and wearing sandles?

But why change your mind not even a quarter into your long term plan? Sounds like he half-assed the whole GOD thing. He lost the fire and the passion

1. Exodus didn't happen
2. God is not punishing Egyptians due to disbelief. He is punishing them for their lack of action. There are certain sentences in the story where God almost seems to acknowledge the Egyptian gods exist but that he is more powerful. However, if they simply let his people walk, he seems to have been perfectly content with their belief system.
3. ISIS believes in him.
4. God did show up to the Super Bowl in 1985, my friend.

That still doesn't explain why God stopped killing people or at least turning water into blood.

It would really help the Republicans if God turned the Mississippi river into blood.

He didn't kill people for their lack of faith or breaking his laws. In fact, the history of Judeo-Christianity is that the more his people broke the laws the more he was willing to help them return to the way.

There is no reason to turn rivers red. He took human form. You can't ask much more than that.

Yeah, but that was like 2000 years ago. Why not help out the non-believers today?

Chicago reversed its flow and turned the Mississippi River into shit. That's why I worship Chicago.

There have been plenty of prophets who have followed.

There have also been many instances where people (not me) consider God to be exacting his judgment.

He was really obvious though. Of course I can view stains beneath underpasses but I really want to have no doubt.

I just don't get why God got all passive about it. We only give Ryan Pace like 3 years to prove himself, and yet God can go 2,000 years without proving himself and we all just accept it?

People saw demon images in the smoke from 9/11. Mary appeared to children and gave them prophesies. Stuff is there if you are the type that needs a miracle writ large. I'm more of a "there is special providence in the falling of a sparrow" type.

The Ten Commandments has one of he greatest musical soundtracks of all time. Many people don't know the music during the famous rain scene in Caddyshack ("I don't think the heavy stuff's gonna come down for a quite a while..." ) was from TCC.

Oh yeah, Exodus was a disappointment, but it was better than that Noah abomination.

This is the kind of stuff that ultimately leads God to have to kill all first born children.

If he has something to get across then make it clear.

I seem to remember a documentary where God appeared in court to prove John Denver wasn't crazy. Nobody believed him then either.

Did you guys see that somebody came out w/ a Bible where they changed every "God" to "Kanye". I'm pretty sure the person who did that was Kanye. However, it all seems to make better sense.

Going back to GD's point on God acknowleging other gods & the Jooz not being monotheistic, both points are true. Back then there were two god's competing for everyone's attention, El & Yahweh (aka Jehova aka Yeezus). In fact, many Joo names like Israel & Samuel are derived from the "El" god. @ some point, they decided to use attributes from both gods & pretended that they were the same dude all along.

I thought "El" was just the word for "god," not the name of a specific god. I think you're thinking of Ba'al.

I think El was referring to someone specific. Ba'al is another. I think he was the one w/ the goat head on the Heavy Album covers.

This should be a 40-page thread about how awesome this movie is.

Take your silly religious arguments out of it.

They have no place here.

John Derek cuts the images deep while hittin' Linda Evans, Usurla Andress, and Bo Derek.

Edward G. Robinson wants to know "Where's your Messiah Noooooowwwww?"

Greatest movie ever made and I haven't even talked about Heston or Yul or Vincent Price or how hot pre-Munsters Yvonne De Carlo was.

This. You make some good points. I think people fail to watch a movie in the context/era it was made. You could make a complete joke about what a piece of shit the wizard of oz is too by today's standards.

Yeah. I love it too.

We watched this on dvr and took a break to watch Mad Men and we had a discussion about how Moses was Biblical Don Draper. Literally every woman who wasn't his mother or adopted mother wanted to bang Moses.

Bullshit. You'd be watching on your big screen.
