Nasty.

These guys will be why they win the Central this year.

Edwin Lester sucked ass both starts so far but the Bullpen locked it down as they have all year. Once Schlitter gets punted back to Iowa when Grimm gets healthy they'll be even better.

They look like a .500 team to me, at best. Those were nice comeback wins, but you won't be able to rely on constantly falling behind by several runs and getting late game rallies. Hoping to see IMU at the game tonight. Go Cubbies!

They won't be playing playoff teams like the Reds,Cardinals and Rockies either. Rockies where red hot and they cooled them off. Reds had a nice start as well. Not like they where playing the Twins and barely won 2 of 3.

The bullpen looks really good.

They have a shot to win high 80's. Nothing that has happened so far has been bad other than Lester which will be fine.

What have you seen in the 6 games that tells you .500 at best?

I could see having that opinion but not because of anything that has happened so far

Cost of the Cubs bullpen:

Jackson: $13M
Motte: $4.5M
Wada: $4M
Strop: $2.525M
Coke: $2.25M
Rondon: $0.544M
Grimm: $0.5315M
Ramirez $0.5145M
Schlitter $0.5245M

Jackson obviously a failed starter and his inclusion of the bullpen is an attempt to make chicken salad out of chicken shit.

The planned outlay for the bullpen is around ~$15M. Or the cost of a closer on the FA.

Lester $155 million
Jackson $56 million

and the Yankees saved him from throwing $100+ million at Tatanka

This doesn't bode well for the days when revenue increases. Remember when the Red Sox gave him money to spend?

Wouldn't make me perform verbal cartwheels.

I'd be more concerned that my dead arm pitcher gave up six runs to those keggers

stay out of Sox business...but you are wrong

Twins never had a lead on the best pitcher in this city.

 You are laughably optimistic about all your teams and the Sox are the ones you overrate the most.

They lost 99 and 89 the last two years and both times you were aruging they were "in contention" for most of the year.

I like that you are clearly bothered by the decent 4-2 start though.

The best part is that in Iowa there are a quite of few solid replacements once Ramirez has to go on the DL for his Sale-like "rest".

Rivero, Rosscup, Parker and Britton are just biding their time to join the Show and contribute.

Plus, you have CJ Edwards ready for the babied Ramirez role sitting at Tennessee. He proved in Arizona he can step in a dominate MLB hitters. He's just waiting to get called up in the 2nd half for the stretch run and light up the Show.

The Rockies where UNDEFEATED and the Reds where in first or tied with the Cardinals for first.

They are last year's White Sox with a better bullpen. Only one starter they have looks like an ML pitcher (Arrieta) and the rest is just a mixture of expensive trash (Jackson, Lester), moderately priced trash (Hammel) and cheap trash (Wada, Wood, Hendricks). They have some decent offensive players but glaring problems that refuse to be solved, like the catcher situation with hopeless Ross and bad Montero playing ahead of Castillo who's probably about league average.

The Sox were in contention until the Twins series that stuck a dagger in them last year. They scored a bajillion 9th inning runs that made the Blowasavio led bullpen less of an issue than it actually was.

Even if he doesn't the Sox are paying him no more than $6m dollars any given year of his contract. Lester is already looking like a $150+m albatross.

They're going to play a lot of close game, which end up being a coin flip. I think it took four Rockies errors for them to steal that game. It's nice to comeback against the Reds and Rockies, but you can't keep playing from behind and be a 90 win team.

I've watched both and he's looked hopeless in both. He's hurt, gotten bad, or doesn't care. You dont see any of the other games' best pitchers giving up like 7 doubles in a game against the Reds and being incapable of fielding their position.

Comebacks happen when a team has a real good bullpen, which the Cubs might have.

We'll see. I dont expect 90 wins but not ruling out 80's
