I expect them to hit and with Sale ,Shark ,Quint the top 3 are good but if they cant pick up the baseball or stop making outs on the bases its just going to be a slightly better version of last years shit show.

Why Sox fans expect Samardzjia to be anything special is a mystery to me. He's not a top of the rotation guy. He's a 3rd or 4th starter. He's 0-1 this season with a 6.23 ERA. In his career he is 36-49 with a 3.89 ERA he's projected to go 9-12 with a 4.24 ERA this season. To think he's going to be Chris Sale-like, is crazy. If he's over .500 with an ERA under 4.00, Sox fans should celebrate. I was not one of those wanting the Cubs to sign him to an extension. They did great to get Addison Russell for him.

I said in that thread that he pitched like an ace in that game. I have never said Samardzjia was an ace and I supported the idea of trading him, rather than signing him to a big extension. The Cubs did the right thing. So, the answer is No....he is not a top of the rotation starter.

The Sox bullpen has been outstanding the last 4 games. The defense, as mentioned, needs to get better. Its also way past due for Eaton and Cabrera to start producing a little bit.

Bunting is a stupid idea in the first place in that situation. Down 1 run, OK I can see that. But down 2? Fuck that. Even with Eaton struggling, swing the bat and who knows what happens. Unless he hits a rocket of a ground ball right at a middle infielder, he is not getting doubled up. If anything, have the runners go and let Eaton swing to try and start something. Bunting there was just silly.

I disagree, but it could be the National League in me.

Part of the situation that made it silly was that the three guys following Eaton in the batting order all have more than enough power to hit the ball out of (not so) Progressive Field.

It really is amazing, isn't it. There's a pitcher out on the mound really struggling. He's in deep shit and he knows it. And then a guy walks up to the plate and makes an out on purpose. Two runners advance ninety feet each. But you can see the pitcher blow back up. You watch him and the weight of the world just came off his shoulders. He's got one out and now he can work. He's strikes a guy out and he's probably out of the jam. And Hawk Harrelson is blathering on about "getting the job done".

Yes. The Sox have been giving away outs for at least five years. Alexi used to be the guy who would run into outs with regularity but he seems to have gotten a clue in his old age.

Yeah, but I don't belive you just play for that. If he gets the bunt down like he is supposed to a base hit ties the game, someone hits one out even better.

Eaton has been playing sloppy. Robin should sit him for a day or two, but he won't because he won't even agree that he is playing sloppy.
