It seems like less pitchers than ever make defensive plays. They defer mostly.

Since I was a kid it's bothered me when a fly ball his hit to the pitcher and he runs out of the way

I have never understood this really either, growing up the pitcher is usually one of the best athletes on the field, let him make the damn play.

That's the way I was taught. The pitcher is supposed to get out of the way and let an infielder take the pop-up.

Peter Gammons stated today that the Red Sox played two bunt defenses: one for Lester, where the 3B always took the play; the other for every other pitcher where the pitcher took it

And they still won Two Championships. I guess it was a good system.

Shields is the first assignment for Bryant. Tough first match up.

i would like to also point out that i was there the last time the cubs had a CUBS PRIDE DAY!!!! like this, mark prior's debut back in 2002.

granted it was a night game and that meant everyone was that much more liquored up and WOOOO!!!!! and of course your humble hero and protagonist had to wear his then-new vlad jersey because you know.... yeah you know. i had some guy come up to me in the concourse and choke-hold me against a wall and say "YOU LISTEN AND YOU LISTEN GOOD burrito (F-word for homosexuals).... YOU'RE AT A CUBS GAME SO YOU WEAR A CUBS JERSEY, PREFERABLY SOSA, AN URLACHER JERSEY OR YOU GO THE FUCK HOME YOU GOT THAT burrito?!?!?!"

he was then ejected from the ballpark rather instantly cuz choking people for no reason = kind of frowned upon in the good seats.

i'd imagine that today is going to be just like that and it's prolly best for all parties involved that it isn't a night game.

That game was awesome. My cousin (and her whole class) sang the Natl anthem.

Prior struck out 10 in 6

I ended up with two sets of tickets because I bought them the minute he was called up and my aunt had extras.

To find out his correct age, maybe someone could ask his father, Jose Abreu.

This is your ultimate lesson. Just for the record, all I ever heard about Priors motion was that it was near perfect and he should almost never get hurt. The only person I ever heard that his delivery was bad was from Dr. Mike Marshall (and probably Soze..)

I don't think Abreu would raise someone with so many anger issues.

In general, they should sell BP tickets. Cubs get BP for 30 minutes and gates open only for last 10 mins of cub bp. Sell the 30 minutes in the bleachers. Then clear it out.

Wind out of the SW to start the game, slowing shift toward SE and then E as the game goes on. Should help RH batters all day.

2-5 double and a single. 2K

There is a press conference?

Usually the GM will do a conference call in these situations. Trout, Harper did.
