The subject was what made who the caller was relevant.

You weren't listening.

I think I've already explained myself. It didn't matter what the guy was talking about, but rather that he was eventually recognized as a writer.

So why not introduce him as such rather than feigning he is another dumb caller? It's not like he was a whistle-blower or a Blackhawk's informant.

As a show that is rapidly sliding into the tabloid arena they can't have it both ways. If Sam Fels from the Committed Indian wants to call in and use a pseudonym/moniker, that's okay. Just don't come on the same station and use your name and represent your entity. Spiegs & Goff announced that Fels would be a guest of theirs Friday.

The two aren't mutually exclusive.

Agreed. But generally speaking, the guests on the show are better spoken and made fun of less than your average dumb caller, except Jimmy from Elmwood Park.

Made fun of less, of course. Or they wouldn't come on. But certainly not better spoken in many cases. You've got Len Kasper saying guys "look hitterish". Can you imagine if a caller said such a thing?

You singled-out the one guy I wouldn't mind at all if B&B beat up, but he's more the exception than the rule. The sportswriters they have on are generally well spoken and offer insightful comments.

These two thoughts are mutually exclusive though.

If Bernstein "had the guy call" then he couldn't have "eventually recognized" that he was a writer.

He wasn't "eventually recognized." McClure has been calling as Mr. Chainsaw for years and years.

Bernsy can be a real Douchebag at times, but the length's some posters will go to to make something out of nothing he actually did, is more than a little disconcerting.

For whatever it's worth, I do think the Committed Indian guys should be recognized as such up front. You wouldn't take a baseball call and be like "oh, by the way, that was Joe Sheehan, he writes a ton of stuff."

You just summed up this entire section in one sentence.

I know its your board, but why do you feel the need to post this in every B&B subforum topic? You're not going to win any converts among posters on a B&B forum.

It's the official fast track to enshrinement in the gridiron assassin wing of the CSTRCHOF (Chicago sports talk radio caller hall of fame) in scenic Bensenville, IL

I thought it was pretty cool when the original O'Hare expansion plans called to annex so much of Bensenville that the city would have disincorporated.

Growing up in elk grove I was rooting so hard for that bears stadium cuz it would have laid waste to so much of the rupley-school/bowling area of elk grove. Plus as a young aspiring ne'er-do-well you know the blue line would have come out to elk grove (or got a yellow line equivalent) and that would have been great.

Otherwise elk grove is a hike to the 223 or get lucky middays with the.... 646? The ARL hrs road >> 90 >> Rosemont one... Oh and the dearly departed bus to woodfield/harper... Otherwise it was basically "fuck you get a car" like most suburbs.

It would have been better for the Bears to just plop a stadium in EGV rather than build that expensive, gaudy dump that ruins the lakefront. Could have used that land for the public good instead of ten shitty Bears games and some friendlies with the Polish national soccer team.

HEY NOW! just last year IIRC they had Leo messi + friends AND THE MOST DECORATED SIDE IN ENGLISH FOOTBALL™®© LIVERPOOL FC!!!!!!

next time you're walking down the street thinking "boy I wish I had brick's car" you can reflect on your lack of homies and realize "if only I liked Liverpool I wouldn't be walking alone right now"
