Let's stop referring to Lester as the ace. Even the day he signed, we knew this was likely to not be the case. And when the season is done, I don't think Lester will be someone we were complaining about all season.

Pittsburgh is a four game series.

Let's split it, at a minimum.

As well you should be! If you're not going to win the world series this year, each loss gets you closer to a better draft pick to go and get a better best player available, and if this cubs team gets some pitching they'll be deadly.

We might as well just call cubs fans parker lewis or Dan Bernstein because no matter what happens this year they simply cannot lose in the big picture! #ThankYouTheo

I didn't like Maddon pulling Lester today and putting in Schlitter. His pitch count was decent. Let him control his destiny there. Schlitter blows anyway.

How long is Lester going to get the benefit of the doubt, Thats bullshit about the ace stuff. He signed 150 million to be the fucking ace, losing streak stopper, win the tough games like today, number 1 pitcher, not some fucking journeyman that you hope does well as a 4. Fucking 0-2 with an almost 2 WHIP and 7 ERA in great pitchers weather. You better start getting worried about this fucking turd.

Nope, that title comes with the $150 mill check of "ACE" and you do get pressure for that. he is giving me some tough guy Jake peavy talk thus far. I didnt expect him to be great, but I didnt expect Hammell to be better either.

If you say fuck a lot, people tend to think you know what you're talking about more. Good work.

Body of work tells me I can still give him the benefit of the doubt.

If the best we can say about a guy signed for 150 million giving up 3 ER in 5.1 IP ( 5.29 ERA) is that he wasn't bad Im pretty sure theres a problem.

Agreed. I'm saying we're wigging out like he allowed 10 runs. Although that 3rd got charged to him he wasn't the pitcher on the mound when he scored.

I'm happy with the 1. Friday would have been a nice win, but shit happens.

Padres are a good team, and the Cubs don't exactly have an offense built to succeed at Wrigley in 40 degree weather, rain, and the wind blowing in.

What does the last part of this even mean?

This offense is not 'small ball.' The team is going to rely on long doubles and HR. Similar to the 2008 Cubs, but with less success.

Cubs should have over 500 XBH this year, easily.

There is no blame. The Cubs are 6-5 with Lester doing poorly to this point. I'm content. Things are progressing as they should be, and I'm projecting that to continue.

Are you projecting it to warm up, stop raining and the wind to blow out?

Correct. Safe projections. I am also projecting that the Cubs offense will improve with the weather, and that they will be able to outscore most opponents regularly.

Something that did not occur in previous years.

So you are projecting the weather to get better resulting in the Cubs scoring more runs but opponents to score fewer.

I predict that the Cubs' offense benefits more from the nicer weather. The Cubs have more power than most teams.

The Cubs are currently in the lower half of the league in XBH. They will finish near the top in that statistic when all is said and done.

Even with the struggles of Lester, the Cubs are in the middle of the pack with ERA.

So yes, most signs point to the Cubs improving.
