When Robin was hired the opinions flew. I am pretty sure many Sox fans liked it or wanted to see how it would work out, etc.

It was like a draft pick, you cant say for sure if #50 was going to be better or worse than Chandler Jones, but you can have your say.

Now you can come back and say "WTF did they do!"

Of course what Kenny did would be like you picking up the phone one day and hearing Mark Murphy...

MM: "is this Hawger?"
HA: "yes, who is this?"
MM: "I am President of the Green Bay Packers and we would like to know if you would like to be the coach?"
HA: "Can I think about it for a day?"
MM: "Sure, let me give you my number and you can get back to us Monday"

So all of the Brewers fans clamoring this morning for Craig Counsell to be the new manager after Roenicke is fired are pathetic also I see.

I believe Counsel has been a part of the front offices...Asst GM for 4 years? He sees the players everyday, scouting, etc. should know the organization inside and out and went into the Brewers right from playing for them....plus grew up as a diehard brewers fan.

I would prefer a guy with managerial time always, but a guy who is intertwined in the daily activity of the team and one last thing....WANTS THE JOB and KNOWS HE IS BEING CONSIDERED....is years ahead of a guy who played for a team 10 years prior and came out to spring training ....

Signs multi-year extension. Awesome.

Still think this was "AWESOME?"

I see many Sox fans here are anti Robin.....even though the outrage should go higher than Robin....after all it wasnt Robins idea to manage or even to stay.

Yes, I do.

Still don't want him as my manager, and the part about him growing up here is just awful for people to bring up. That is one thing that kills me up here, they want THEIR guy.

There will come a point where Robin resigns....to be closer to his family or something like that.

While the White Sox problems lie deeper than their manager, I hope we see this at the conclusion of the 2015 season.

Way too much time is spent talking about managers, who are largely insignificant.

I suppose I made a misstatement in the Rongey thread when I said that no manager "makes a team better". It's quite possible that some do. What's impossible is our ability to say which ones. And so, rather than argument or real objective fact, we are reduced to "what everyone knows", e.g. Jim Leyland is "better" than Terry Bevington in spite of Bevington's superior win percentage as a manager.
