Wow. Actually shocked and impressed. Kinda don't want to trade him now. I know, wind socking.

While I'm on it I'm not so impressed at the routes Fowler is running to balls out there in center.

Starlin has looked all world at SS. And solid at the plate as always. I'm happy to see it.

Castro has been so good they have moved AR to second at Iowa. Fowler does run awesome routes. They are so much better on defense you can really tell.

Ya think? I feel like he's kinda all over the place and breaks the wrong way a bunch.
Big o-fer today though. Needs me a little more for a leadoff hitter.

I have seen him screw a couple up but I don't notice him breaking the wrong way a lot. I'll start keeping an eye on that. He does need to pick it up in the leadoff role. I expected more. Still early though.

I think Fowler has done okay, and should do better. Offensively.

He increases his trade-value every day .....

I said last year, if the team is good, chances are better he will stay focused. The team is better and he's staying focused and invested in games now. Still should be moved to 2nd, as Addison Russell is an even better SS.

I think that was the rub on him defensively. Obviously has the speed for the position, but either awful routes/bad ball tracking off the bat leads to making plays more difficult than need be or flat out missing some.

Defense doesn't matter. Just need a Type A compensatory pick. Another stop-gap free agent for 2016 if necessary for Almora's continued development.

Defense doesn't matter?
You don't have to look very far south to see that giving away free outs is deadly.

Fowler isn't a long term piece. I'm not going to ask him to suddenly become a gem defensively. We knew what we were getting out of him. Defensive metrics exist for a reason.

SS hitting in the .290's and playing above average "D" don't grow on trees. Put Russell at 2nd and things are looking pretty good.

The 2015 NL All-Star starting infield will be Rizzo, Russell, Castro and Bryant.
