dude you know all this was set up by him paying theo ~4mil/yr so he could cut the payroll by 25-50mil/yr for 3-4 years, right?

Context matters though. They were a top payroll team. They never went below 88 million, which is still respectable.

So only for two years really. The dip in payroll has been oversold a little by some.

But fuck Ricketts anyway

I don't think verify means what you think it does.

Did you place a call to the Cubs front office? Did you check with multiple sources?

Anyone that opened any sports related website, Facebook or Twitter yesterday at 11:20pm or any time later than that "verified" the story. All you did was copy and paste a tweet.
