There's the belief that being a lefty pitcher is the easiest way into the Show. David Ross is proof that isn't true. The key is to befriend an elite pitcher and become their cabana boy.

His sole purpose was to whisper sweet nothings to his sugar daddy Lester, yet in two starts we've seen Lester shit his pants. He can't hit for shit. His cabana boy status has relegated Castillo to a PH role where all he's done is rake.

Plus I hate his face as he's 38 and but looks like he's 53 with his graying beard.

Man,you guys are sooo negative.

So add Ross' salary onto the huge Lester salary.

The Cubs would have been fine with Montero & Castillo.

At least last year our shitty back-up catcher John Baker could pitch.

Ross can't do anything.

Rizzo hugged him after his HomeRun yesterday. Not sure what that was about.

Him being a conniving cocksucker.

That's his Rasputin act where he ingratiates himself to the star players. Then during exit interviews they all mention how David Ross was a great clubhouse guy and was invaluable to the season's success.

Clever as hell but I see right through his act. Dump his geriatric ass.

Doesn't anyone find it fishy a graybeard like Ross can still get in a crouch to catch?

Justin Upton is 27 and has played in over 1,000 games. Ross is 38 and only been in ~750! We can't let him see 751.

Charlie Silvera played on eight World Series teams in nine seasons. He saw action in 227 games and had 482 big league at-bats. He was an invaluable component of championship teams. But even Charlie Silvera couldn't get the Cubs out of last place.

If good dolphin created this thread Kirkwood would be putting David Ross in the all star game.

Castillo nearly had two dingers. His double is a home run in any other park and his 8th inning HR was a bomb.

Cabana Boy needs to be waived.

I would never be the guy telling you about the talent level of David Ross, but he is one of those guys who will be a manager in MLB and thats why he is here.

I agree on talent alone, we didnt need him, but he is here because this team is loaded with guys who would still be happy to go out and get hammered the night before games, etc.

Dont need to agree with it, but thats what he is doing here.

Probably...

Heard Keith law talking about Ross in the way that he will be a coach...and you just know who will coach one day....made a point of the guy living in the Majors on 2 years deals for 10+ years.

Now that I looked him up, oh, David Ross from the '04 Dodgers team that won the division! Oh, that David Ross! I played as him in MVP Baseball and I never made the connection.

Seems reminiscent of a previous coach/player mercenary signing:

Ross sabotaged a no outs bases loaded inning with his suckage. His shittyness possesses no bounds.

He has the highest OBP of the Cubs' catchers.

That guy was one hell of a shutdown center. I wish he had retired with the Blackhawks and stayed in the organ-eye-zation rather than puttering around as a fringe NHLer with Minnesota and Florida those last two years. I think he's coaching in the AHL now.

Phil Coke needs to be cut. When the Tigers bullpen doesn't need you then you're done.

OK, fine, I am warming up to David Ross. He doesn't totally suck.

Phil Coke does and I don't even have to mentioned Edwin since that's a given.
