A team's best hitter does not hit cleanup.

A team's best hitter often does bat clean-up.

Which is funny because the Sox are run like a Daley Administration with tons of neighborhood cronyism and patronage filling their staff while the Cubs are modern sport's shining example of lies-without-borders Washington-style image mocking. How is it the Cubs were saddled with the BAD OPTICS?

That's not true though. As I said, Bryant had dominated the minors for a full year and then dominated spring training. Rodon had limited minor league innings and obvious control issues in spring training. Nobody thinks Rodon is the Sox best pitcher right now. The Cubs obviously believe Bryant is their best player as evidenced by his immediate insertion into the clean-up spot.

What you wrote is irrelevant.

This year was marketed as an "all-in" year. Rondon was one of the 25 best players in Spring Training.

Simple as that. White Sox sacrificed 11 games in an "all-in" year for 2021.

You think a lot more of Rodon than any Sox fan.

i was told he's the next carlton. i was disappointed a franchise with a billionaire owner was forcing the next carlton to toil in the minors in an "all-in" year.

i never got to see carlton. it's exciting to see there will be another one!

I'm interested in the corresponding move as Rodon has to be put on the 40 man roster. I think they can easily shitcan Kyle Drabek. Petricka should be ready to return also so they can give Guerra his walking papers too.

Nobody thought Bryant needed more development time in the minors, the decision was economical. If he isn't their best player, he's right up with Rizzo, and he's clearly their most highly regarded prospect by their decision to keep him in the minors to get an extra year of service.

I did not get any clarification on this. Which teams / players?

Just looking at the box scores quickly,

Atlanta - Freeman
TB - Longoria
Boston - Hanley (debatably their best hitter)
Washington - Harper
KC - Hosmer
Texas - Beltre

Several teams had a guy there due to a platoon situation. Mets would have had Wright there, but he's injured or resting.

In any case it's hard to say what JORR said is outlandish... often a team's best hitter is in that slot. But I suppose you're just arguing semantics again.

I guess 160 innings is the mystical number for rookies now. so he's in the pen until a move to the rotation will get him to around 160.

Scott Boras

"The Bryant situation and Carlos’ situation are very different because of the innings issue," Boras said. "Because of the idea that frankly, you really want this process to get a foundation to it for a pitcher rather than building -- because there’s no repetition in amateur baseball that prepares you for what major league pitchers have to go through. Its part of what they have to go through isn’t about ability, it’s about truly building to durability." [...]

"Still the process is one where I don’t in any way think that too many innings too young, being a big leaguer, right there right now and throwing 180 innings your first year of pro ball, I don’t find too many careers where athletes do that that have worked out too well as far longevity goes," Boras said. "So bringing him along slowly and monitoring his innings and doing things like that, I think it’s a very good plan."

I'm done with baseball if the Sox don't win 87 games this year or make the playoffs. Not looking good.

Hopefully there will be Cubs fans that can keep me abreast of what happens.
