Season series: Tied 2-2.

RH Vance Worley (2-1, 4.00) vs. RH Jason Hammel (1-1, 5.19).

Tuesday: 7:05 p.m., WPWR-50.
LH Jeff Locke (2-0, 3.32) vs. LH Travis Wood (1-1, 3.24).

Wednesday: 7:05 p.m., CSN.
RH Gerrit Cole (3-0, 2.19) vs. RH Kyle Hendricks (0-0, 5.74)

Cubs take the 1st and drop the next 2. Bryant finally pops his HR cherry?

Gotta wonder if Soler is going to get a game off today. Feels like it.

Stop using Cubbies.

Dont force the hand and make someone else start making the threads.

I'm feeling a sweep for the Cub. I think we're ready to go on a serious streak here. Of course a bad bullpen can put an end to that theory real quick.

On a side note, that Vance Worley looks like a monster out there. Somebody check his urine.

No shit. I look forward to the series threads...and appreciate the efforts of others, but seeing Cubbies in the thread pisses me off. May have to start boycotting the thread...and or like you indicate, have someone else who knows the name of the club start a different thread.

Go CUBS !!!

This can cause confusion...some might think Lovie is coming to town with his squad to play the former Decatur Staleys.

It's gotta be a song reference or something. That's Curious Hair's thing. Since it's the Pirates, I guess it would have to be some group from Pittsburgh, or a line from a Wiz Khalifa song.

Keep using Cubbies Kirkwood. If folks don't like the team's nickname, they can find another team.

Cubbies is perfectly fine to me. I don't get what the big deal is.

Cubs take tonight but drop the next two.

It's not their nickname. Cubs is their nickname. And you dont speak for Cub fans or the majority or anyone but yourself. Im glad you like Cubbies. Some of us dont. It's not a big deal either way.

Chicago's team is fine. Cubbies is not a huge deal but fighting FOR Cubbies is ridiculous.

It is often associated with the "loveable losers" tag that many of us dont like.

Like I said, not a huge deal, but its not like Cubbies is some official name. Call them Cubbies if you want, but dont try and force it on other people.

I can't believe you even have an opinion on this.

And I have never associated Cubbies with the loveable losers label. And I've never heard anyone else do that either.

Your comment about not "forcing it on other people" made me laugh, though.

And wouldn't supporting calling them "Chicago's team" only enforce the douchebag label of Cubs fans?

Ok.

Im glad that YOU dont associate it with loveable losers. I think a lot of people do though and I think the people who have said they dont like the term Cubbies are probably in that boat.

Im not forcing it on anyone. I made a suggestion because I know that if it keeps up were gonna have two threads. I didnt tell people to "Call them the Cubs or find another team"

If you guys like Cubbies, go for it. Many people associate it with the loveable losers tag so I wont be using it. I hope that is ok.

No, Cubbies does. Wayyyyy more so.

I honestly cant believe you dont see the Loveable Losers-Cubbie connection.

Seemingly many people who go to Wrigely to look at IVY and dont care if they win call them the Cubbies. (Even Kirkwood himself has admitted this and he's doing it as a joke "Im a grandma from Iowa")

Not supporting Cubbies due to the whole loveable losers thing just sounds like you're being overly sensitive. I get your point though. I just don't care either way.

Yes, perhaps a bit sensitive and ultimately not a huge deal.

I dont call them the Cubbies. That's all.

Bryan wouldn't be your nickname.

Agreed. Cubs sounds good to me. :)

Many people refer to the team's name as their nickname. Despite your wikipedia sourcing.

I like Cubbies. It'll be back on future threads.

I like Go Cubs Go, Dying Cubs Fan's Last, All The Way, the W flag, the bleachers, and all that junk.

Let the scientists call them Cubs and talk with a stick up their asses.

No, you told people not to create threads about the team if they use the term Cubbies. That is so much better.

No, I said if Cubbies keeps being used, we'll end up with multiple threads and it even be me starting them. That's just a fact.

People obviously care enough to keep commenting on it.

Saying "find another team" as if you're anything other than one fan with one opinion is much bitchier.

"Cubbies" is usually yelled or used by the drunk frat boys in the bleachers. IMO. Like RPB said...its not the worst thing in the world but I just dont like it. Pretty simple. I'm not offended by it either.....it is what it is.

It's hard when other fans of the team say dumb stuff and it gets put on the whole fanbase.

Actually, Chicago National League Ball Club, Inc. is their name. Cubs is a nickname.

And you'll notice most are completely fine with the term Cubbies. You and maybe one other see a negative connotation. Instead, maybe just realize that all you've ever known about the Cubs is losing, and therefore everything related to the Cubs has the stigma of loser. Not just one nickname you've hand-selected.

I am a Cubs fan. I live with the good and the bad. What I like and don't like. The fans that don't pay attention in the bleachers annoy me. But they are Cubs fans also, just of a different level. I'm not asking for mass executions.
